It sounds like the printer thinks it is not a genuine ink cartridge. Fit a Lexmark cartridge to cure it.

  • Store the cartridges in an air-tight container, such as the storage unit you received with your photo cartridge, or dispose of them properly.

  • If you are installing new ink cartridges, remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of each ink cartridge.
NOTE: The following illustration shows a black cartridge and a color cartridge (used for normal printing). For photo printing, use a photo cartridge and a color cartridge.

Insert the new ink cartridges. Make sure the black or photo ink cartridge is secure in the left ink cartridge carrier, and the color ink cartridge is secure in the right ink cartridge carrier.

Printer just has following message Error 1203 consult user's guide" which I do not have

Error 1203 comes from a refilled ink cartridge.

Try purchasing the Brand name ink cartridge and the error message should go away.

It keeps saying cartridge error/ consult user guide 1203 Have replaced the cartridge

Did you replace with Generic Ink or Lexmark Ink Cartridges? See your Printer's Documentation and check to see if your printer will only use Lexmark ink.

I ordered Lexmark 32 & 33 ink cartridges off ebay (but they are not 'genuine'). I'm getting an error message #1203 - 'Consult your user's guide'. Does my Lexmark X7350 only accept Lexmark brand...

Error 1203 is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad...

1 - try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..
    or
2 - when error shows up, shut the printers power off; wait one minute and turn it back on press copy.

Error 1203 consult user guide, I don't have one. This happen after I change the ink cartridge

This error means that either the ink cartridge is bad, or the copper contacts between the cartridge and the cartridge slot is bad. Try cleaning them with rubbing alchohol and a q-tip, or try a new ink cartridge.
