I have a HP PSC 1610 all-in-one printer. Can the colour cartridge be bypassed when it asks for replacement cartridge? I only print in black and white now 99% of the time.

No , we all only wish, this is the bane or all printer users. You cannot print without all in full & being OK. Also must use color sometimes else nozzles can clog up. Must clean, too.

I am recieving a message that tells me to insert a color catridge. I only want to use the scanner

You need to have a color cartridge installed in your printer for it to function, not just print.

Display says "Remove and check right cartridge", but even replacing the right cartridge with a new one does not fix the problem, and the printer will not function.

This HP PSC 1610 all in one - scan / fax / copier *** printer, normally the cartridges inserting
locations might have caused some issue. When you install the genuine catridge and getting the
error. Might be the catridge inserter might be replaced with local hardware engineer is the best solution. Moreover this type of printers are HP itlsef is giving the maximum life of 3 years only as printer life time.

In our office we are using HP PSC 1110 - 4-in-1 printer and it is having the same problem, but when the message displayed, we will just say OK and it will automatically print the necessary pages.

Best of Luck always.

Remove and checl color cartridge

The problem most likely is with the electrical contact between the color cartridge and print carriage. Even if you've replaced the cartridge, if the contacts on the carriage are still dirty, it won't make a good connection with the new cartridge and the error message will still appear.

Fortunately, the HP web site has a solution posted at the following link:

Cleaning Cartridge and Print Carriage Contacts

Good luck.
