Alter your white balance and use ISO 100 setting You may also want to make sure you have outside setting selected. This sounds like overexposure and is due to incorrect white balance.

My Moultier A-50 recently stopped showing color on daytime pictures. Night time pics are still fine.

Check your settings for "white balance", and also make sure you are in "auto" mode.

How to take best pictures.

1. The best pictures can be taken with a tripod and using self timer or the remote control of the camera.

2. Some people think that the best picture can be taken with suddenly pressing the shutter. In reality it is not true. So the best pictures can only be taken with two steps. First, pressing half way and without not shaking the camera continuing on pressing the shutter. At last the camera takes picture. But a good photographer does not know the moment of taking the picture. He/She only knows and concentrates on not shaking the camera.

3. Best pictures can only be taken with an artistic point of view. Best photographers place the subjects to the most estetic point and the best estetic position.

4. Best pictures can only be taken without using the flash.

5. Best pictures can only be taken at the Golden Hour time. Golden Hour is the time period, starting with the Sun rise and ends after an hour. Second Golden Hour starts before an hour of Sun Set and ends with the Sun Set.

6. Best pictures can only be taken by a best photographer so you can never see a best photographer's portrait as a best picture.

7. Best pictures can not be taken with a most expensive camera but can be taken by a best working amateur photographer.

8. Best pictures can not be taken by professionals but can be taken by the professional amateurs.

9. Best pictures can only be taken with the camera which has a greater sensor size.

10. Best pictures can only be taken with a natural view of the objects.

I would like to photograph people and animals in snow

Using the camera in program mode with auto bracketing turned on should give you reasonable results. Winter light is “cooler” in nature and the bright reflections from snow and ice tend to make the final image too “bright."

Bracketing exposures help when photographing outdoors in the snow.

You can use flash as well. Remember to keep a spare battery for the camera, and keep it warm if you plan on being in the cold very long.

Problem on outdoor daylight picture taking

hi

try the Exposure button [+/-] will generally be disabled in auto mode

try changing mode to 'P' (Program) mode and then change the exposure by pressing the +/- button and then you would generally see a scale on the LCD now press the left button to decrease the exposure

better more is to reset the camera to the default settings this would set the aperture, shutter, Exposure, LCD brightness and otehr settings to defaults and this would save from any unwanted changes than required

cheers

Light displays on screen but no image

Can you see images taken earlier from memory in view mode ?
Can you access the menu and see it displayed on the screen ?
If yes to both, then your CCD sensor most likely is defekt.

No DIY recommended.

Poor quality images outdoors

try setting your camera's auto balance into Automatic or Outdoor. So the camera could adjust the light or diable flash.

Powershot S1 IS trouble shooting in images of lcd monitor

Try playing back pictures you know were captured properly ( either with another properly working camera or with your camera before the problem with quality has appeared ). If the image is ok in playback but 'noisy' in capture mode then the CCD sensor is faulty /on its way out. Ask Canon if they repair CCD faults on this model free of charge.
