Our whirlpool model number WFS1285AW keeps stopping mid cycle , with a red hash symbol, we keep restarting it and it will continue washing only to stop again 4 mins later. We had a problem with it early on when the steam button malfunctioned, the engineers came out 3 weeks later! it seems to be be a recurring problem and we have had issues with vaseline lip gloss being left in it. can you suggest what to do?

No cold water will stop it b4 rinse change water valve or turn cold water on all the way

sounds like you need to replace your lid switch asssy part number 285671, unit not recognizing the door closed so for safetyreasons stops after first rinse and wont drain/spin. your tripping the switch by bangin on it
