There should be a condensate pan under there somewhere. Usually the smell like yours is from the water and some food sitting there. Is this fridge out in a garage or somewhere like that? I have pulled animal carcasses, especially reptiles, out of the coil area. They crawl up to get warm. Hope not.

New Frigidaire fridge bottom freezer, model #FRFS282LAP1 making burned rubber smell sometimes.

The compressor or other electrical components have quit working. Or there has been ice that has accumulated over the coils. Or the wiring is faulty or the plugs could be loose. The cord could be frayed. You will need to have the while model to be either repaired or replaced.

Ice is forming in bottom left hand corner of fridge to the left of the drainage hole. Also have a bad smell in fridge even after thoroughly being cleaned

Hi Margaret, It is most likely that the bonding between the drain tube and liner has detiorated and moisture has infiltrated the foam insulation, And it freezes in that corner because the transfer pipe between Freezer and fridge evaporators is located there! which will be at about (- 26 degrees celcius) thus freezing the moisture in the insulation, this could also account for the smell... No cost effective repair unfortunately.

Brand new fridge. I have a bad smell like urine comming out from the bottom front. is this a leak.. fridge is staying cold. this smell started a week ago. Fridge is 2 months old

smell is urea,it is a gas produced when plastics get hot,it will go away in time, but also check the drain for a blockage (syringe with clorine bleach)and if fitted, wipe out the condensate pan with clorine
last make sure the door seals fit all round as iif not flush any condensate will drip out from the front bottom.

Bad smell from motor

Hello,

You need to remove any spoiled food from the refrigerator and clean the interiors with hot water added with baking soda. You need to clean the door seals and remove the breaker strips. Also check for unusual wet insulation.
Hope this work

My Matsui under counter fridge smells of old milk/veg really badly despite cleaning out thoroughly including catch tray at back and downpipe. It is only 1 year old - any advice gratefully received

Can you pull out the fridge and check that the plastic power cable has not been pressed against the compressor at the rear/bottom of the fridge?
Usually, overheated plastic cable smells like rotten veg!

A really bad smell coming from the fridge

I had a similar problem with an unbearable smell, not inside, but outside the refregeration compartment. it was from the defrosted liquid that gets stored in a small open tank at the bottom on the rear side of the fridge. over time , particles settle along with water and gives a rooten smell, cleaning this tank solved it.

Hope this helps,

I have a homeking fridge freezer and there is a really bad smell coming from the fridge which is not because of food. i have emptied the fridge and thoroughly cleaned the fridge but the smell is still...

Hi, i have the same problem with my Homeking fridge. Because it is a frost free firdge, there is a little resevoir at the back, with a small little tube leading from the base of the fridge into it. There are 2 screws holding it in place. Unscrew these but keep the resevoir firmly in place as the nasty parmesan-type smell is actually stagnant water and you really really dont want to spill it. Empty it and then what i did was bleach and anitbacterialise the resevoir tray and the little tube thing. Though I had the problem solved but now it is doing it again less than 2 months after this, so I'm going to contact the people who sold it to me. This is how you get rid of the smell though!!
Good luck
Laura
