We have a Sony Blue-Ray player hooked up via HDMI to out Mitsubishi 65" DLP HD tv. When the Blue-Ray is turned off, the screen is blue as normal, but as soon as we turn it on, the screen flickers between black and and the blue screen. There is no picture for the movie or blue-ray, but we get sound through our Bose stereo. I am thinking it's the cable, but I am not sure. When I unplugged the cable from the tv, it looked normal, but when I unhooked the cable from the blue ray player and it was still hooked up to the tv, the tv screen kept flickering again.
Something to remember is that most HDMI setups on TV's have what is called a DVI/HDMI port, I would suggest not using anything on that port that isnot converted from DVI to HDMI. I bet if you look, that HDMI 1 on yours....
if the tv is not a 1080p model it will not accept a blueray signal and the optical output from the tv only works thru its own tuner not with the inputs or cable boxes

blue screen means no video signal, if the source is on hdmi ensure the cable is rca or in simple audio video jacks which u will have to connect in the dvi input of the tv reason is hdmi means high definition interface and transmits by hdcp like the data of an internet meaning its digital platform which the tv can only process thru the dvi inputs or component y,p,b
the details you provided were very vague, however from my experience when a device is connected to another device via and audio capable hdmi cable, that device renders it audio output to the device its connected to and normally turn off all other audio outputs beside optical- I would assume there is an option in the blue ray player to turn off hdmi audio, which will in turn activate other audio outputs- you may also look for audio out port on your tv, it is ideal to connect the sound bar directly to the tv set audio out ports. To sum this up, if you plan to use your player via hdmi cable you need to turn off hdmi audio output on the blue ray player and the plug an audio cable from your blue-ray player to your sound bar you may also as i said connect your sound bar directly to your tv, the issue is most tv sets now a days do not have an audio out port, if you do then everything you play thru your tv will have audio via sound bar there are several way to go here but unless your sound bar has hdmi av switching capabilities (im sure not) this is one of the most simple--Good Luck.
The only option you have is to connect it via Component cables (Red, Blue, Green) and analog audio cables (Red, White) to get an Analog HD 1080i at best picture and analog stereo sound. I have to tell you though, your BD player is better than your TV and by using it on this TV you are missing out on the unit's full potential of features. I would highly recommend you consider upgrading and if your're looking to save a few bucks and get an amazing picture, consider upgrading to a Mitsubishi DLP. They are as low as $799 for 60".
If you are referring to an HDMI input. you can buy a HDMI switch and be able to select many different sources. start by searching for an HDMI switch on Google
plug the sony player into your home network via a network cable ( should be a network port ( RJ45 port ) on the back of it and then update the firmware - unless its already the latest version, if it is then post back with any error messages or whats happening exactly when you try to select HDMI or is it greyed out ?
try to see if u have hdmi slots and check the highest resolution it can go.there is a higher resolution called hdcp, with not div x but dvi-d where resolution can go up to 20000
Yes, there is an adapter which will take the hdmi output of the blue-ray and convert it to dvi. You will also need to connect the blue-ray audio out (rca jacks) since the hdmi is both audio and video (digital) and the dvi is video only.
For this unit and the addition of the secuity features of Blu-Ray, the 1080i you set can handle is through the component input from a DVD player or an XBOX. In the configuration menu of the PS3, change the resolution to 1080i and see if your set will reset to it. The 1080i on the Blu-Ray is only possible on the HDMI cable as far as I could find, again due to the security restriction. The Mitsu is not going to run it in 720p due to the PS3 is running component and cannot control sync to this set.
