Re: I have a lexmark x6570. It's asking me to install
Hi,
you're going to need the installation cd for that OCR software. It can't be downloaded online since it's a big file. You might want to call Lexmark on their toll-free 1-800-LEXMARK for the cd. Hope this helps.

Try this approach:1. Uninstall your existing printer driver. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark X5600 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, reboot your pc when prompted.2. When your pc turns on, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. On your computer, go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > click on Properties. Take note of the System Type.3. Use the link below to download and re-install the corresponding printer driver for your operating system:- Lexmark X5650 Printer Driver for Windows 7 32-bit- Lexmark X5650 Printer Driver for Windows 7 64-bitSimply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.4. To re-install the Lexmark OCR scan software, insert the printer software installation CD in your pc CD-ROM drive.5. Then try to create a PDF or Scan and Edit text (OCR) to verify that the problem is fixed. Hi, Unfortunately you need the installation CD to install the OCR software. There is no available download in the Lexmark site, what you can do is call Lexmark tech support and ask them to send you a replacement CD.
OCR programs are usually bundled with the driver disk and typically cost money. If the disk is lost, than chances are youll have to purchase an OCR program. One thing that you can try is to contact lexmark customer service and ask to send you a new copy of the disk. Be prepared to fax proof of purchase and pay shipping charges.
Sometimes companies only support only the basic drivers. The OCR software is on the CD (s) that came with the printer. Suggestion. Try to order the original CD from Lexmark., or search Ebay for programs that have OCR capability. You can use OCR programs from other vendors as long as they are stand-a-lone programs. Just make sure you have the original disc so as not to infringe on copyright privileges.
Note: you can buy OCR programs. Check Ebay and Amazon. They are usually better that the programs that come on the OEM disk.
Same problem. I was using the cjb6500en.exe file which does not contain the OCR and FAX drivers. Use the installation CD and select Custom->Update Driver and Install Optional Software to add the FAX driver.
