The door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and/or replace the door handle:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement

The average cost for a replacement handle usually averages about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided. However, price and configuration of your oven also depends upon the MODEL NUMBER.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. If the model number you listed this quesiton under is correct, you can refer to pcappliancerepair.com for some excellent exploded view diagrams of your microwave that confirms how the door is assembled. The part numbers for a new handle (if you haven't purchased one yet) are: 8169737 - (White) 8169738 - (Black) 8169739 - (Biscuit) 8184264 - (Stainless) Make sure you use the correct part number when ordering to ensure you get the correct color to match your appliance. I hope this helps you.

Can a GE microwave door handle be replaced?

Is this an over-the-range microwave oven? If so, you can usually remove the door by first removing the grill vent above the door (by removing 2 or 3 screws first). With the grill vent removed, you can usually remove the door by opening it and lifting it up off its hinges. Place the door down on a blanket. Using a putty knife, you can pry out the black plastic RF shield (or door gasket). This is the most tricky part, and if you are not experienced, you may break that plastic since it is rather brittle. And if you do break it or crack it, then it must be replaced or the microwave oven will leak microwaves. But once you've got that removed, then you should be able to see and remove the screws that hold the handle to the door. After you replace the handle, it's a simple matter to push the door gasket back into place and re-install the door.

Door handle broken. I want to find a replacement handle without replacing entire door.

The door handle can easily be replaced on MOST microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement

The average cost for a replacement handle (if required) usually runs about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided. Several of these sites also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with parts identification and how disasemble/reassemble your appliance.

NOTE: I would need a MODEL NUMBER in order to determine if your appliance repair parts list the door as an entire assembly, or if you can purchase the handle separately. You can also view the websites I have listed in the link provided.

The door handle is a simple repair that can be done with the door in place, or with the door removed. You do not have to uninstall the oven if this is an over the range model.

NOTE: If you wish to remove the door, all you need to do on most models is open the door all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. You may have to remove the grille cover located above the door on some models to accommodate being able to lift the door.

If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you.

I need a new door for this microwave. I have been looking online for hours and can't find just the door. Can anybody give me a website that sells just the door for this micro? Thanks....

The door is available at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

If the model number you listed this question under is correct, the part number for the ENTIRE door is WB56X10585.

Is there a reason for replacing the entire door? You can purchase individual replacement parts if only a single part on the door is broken. The first three sites on the list have helpful exploded view diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

The most common thing that fails on these doors is the door handle. If only the handle is broken, the door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. Need to replace broken door handle. Cannot get to screws inside door to release broken handle and replace with new handle.

Look for a removable insert around the inside window. If not there may be screws along the outside edges to separate the door sections. Eric

Trying to replace the KHMS155LSS3 handle...

To replace the plastic handle on the KitchenAid KHMS155LSS-3 you pry open the door cover from the inside to release the upper tangs (~10). I used razor blades wedged between the tang point to hold them disengaged. Pull the front cover off the door starting from the handle end. Once the top edge is free, the bottom can be remover. See Pitcures.
Repeat the door cover removes with the handle attached from the front after you lift the tangs._828.jpg_829.jpg_830.jpg_831.jpg

Microwave door handle

First, never remove the door. You will disturb the alignment which holds in the microwaves. Generally, the door can be disassembled by removing the screws on the cavity side of the door. Once inside, then you should be able to replace the handle. Often the screws are of the torx variety...also call star.
