Hi - I am getting an error message when i switch on my Sony Cybershot dsc t9 saying access and then it flashes format error C13.01 - can you advise how to resolve?

It might be due to a bad contact of the placed memorycard.

1. Pull the memorycard out and in the camera several times and retry.
2. If not OK, format the card in the camera. If that does not work, format it in the computer.
3. Try another memorycard and recheck.

How do I format the sd card in the DMC_ZS7

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa.

To format the SD card, select [Format] from the [Setup] menu

To bring up the Menu option, press the Menu/Set button. Then select [Setup] and then select [FORMAT]. Then choose Yes to format the card.

Please note:

This requires a sufficiently charged battery, or an AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler (optional). When
formatting the built-in memory, remove the cards.
(Only inserted card will be formatted if present; built-in memory will be formatted if no card is inserted.)
• Always format cards with this camera.
• All picture data including protected pictures will be deleted.
• Do not turn off power or perform other operations during formatting.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I have HP Photosmart R827 with the same problem. when I was uploading stuff onto my memory card I might have hotlinked and when I disconnected it said "Card Unreadable" and told me to format. i...

memory cards can become damaged. this can be from removing it at the wrong time or a file become corrupted, it can wipe the format off the card. and will need reformatting. dont do this on the camera as it can put the wrong format on the card. doe this on a pc, it will probably say when you instal the sd that it needs formatting. click yes, a box will appear and have it all set out for you but don't click format yet, in the box where it says restore device defaults click this. and then press to format. this will put it as the best for any device its being used for. if you had anything on the sd card before it will not be there before or after the format. hope this helps.

Card errow can i format the card or buy a new one

Be careful!
• This operation will destroy all data in the card. If you have already used the card, be sure that you are not about to destroy important image data.
• Some cards come equipped with special built-in functions. Formatting such cards may in some cases cause them to loose their functionality. Before formatting a specialty card, please read the documentation included with the card.
• You cannot format a card that is protected by a write-protect seal. You must remove the seal before formatting. Please discard used seals; write-protect seals should not be reused.

Go to Menu and select the trashcan. Select the symbol that looks like a hammer. Select Yes or No.
CAUTION
• You cannot cancel formatting once the camera has begun executing the format. After selecting YES and pressing the OK button, you must allow formatting to proceed.
• Do not open the card compartment cover, remove the batteries, or disconnect the AC adapter while formatting is in progress (while the lamp is blinking), as doing so may damage the card.

Hi,

Thanks for asking me to be your Tech Buddy.

On to your concern, normally yes, you would have to format the HDD/memory card. This could be done internally using the onboard format command/feature of the camera.

Alternately, if the HDD/memory card is removable, you can use a USB connected card reader or HDD adapter and then using the format command in your PC.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Turns on camra and gets card error

Hi,

You need to reformat the memory card. If you can't do that in your camera then do it with an external card reader and your PC. If this doesn't help then probably the card has malfunctioned.

If this doesn't work you have one option left: hard format. Press simultaneously Green+3+*+power on. DO NOT RELEASE ANY BUTTON UNTIL "FORMATING" IS DISPALYED!
