Dear Expert,
My 1670 do not work well when I move it to another table. It has the action of scanning, but do not show any image on the screen. This problem appeared a month ago, but recovered after a few days unplugged. Could you help me to solve this problem?
Same Problem (WinXP System). I found leaving it off when not using it fixes my problems. (Its like the scanner light overheats or overloads the light receptors and it just sees white from then on, no matter what you do on the pc side of things). Other problems while stumbling into this "fix" include WIA drivers loaded which will stop scanner working properly, and finally scanner drivers seemingly working when USB cable in connected to another port other than what it was installed on but no image is shown (Not 100% sure if it was same problem as detailed at top)
I had the same problem with the blank scan on my Epson Perfection 1670 and nearly tore my hair out trying to resolve it. My last attempt before I binned it and bought a new scanner worked for me. This is what I did. Good Luck. Deleted all Epson Folders and Files from my PC. Rebooted and when to http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&oid=23762&prodoid=35836299 Found: epson12699.exe - 18.6MB - posted on 07/29/08 Downloaded and installed. Scanner now working again.

When I scan a page, only half a page scans.
Scanner makes all the appropriate noises for a scan, but, starting recently, there is no image. Tried uninstalling and installing software. Tried different USB_2 ports. USB ports work OK with other devices. Scanner has occasional use.Tried every possibility I can think of. Thanks.

It has the action of scanning, but do not show any image on the screen. It's the second time I have the same problem. The last time, I unisntall and install the CD and it worked (for a few months) I still have the problem but didn't succeed to make it work
Thanks for helping
My trusty 1670 Photo scanner has also just started to behave as reported in the other posts. I use Ubuntu Linux. It stopped midway through a scan and then would only produce blank scans. I left it unplugged for a while and then it worked again for half a dozen scans before stopping and now gives a blank scan again. Last time it did this we tried using it with a Mac and Windows machine and got blank scans too. Seems like a scanner problem rather than a software/firmware one.
peeble
Same problem. My EPSON 1670 Photo makes the scanning action but doesn't show any preview or image after its run.
I solved the problem three or four times uninstalling and reinstalling the scanner, but it seems doesn't work any more.
Same problem. I try to scan images, it makes the sound but gives me an error message that there is no image to scan.
The same problem - scanner mechanically works, but shows only blank white screens. It happens every second time when I unplug it from one (main) PC with XPPro and connect to the one older with W2k installed. I have never faced that sort of problem on that newer PC, at least yet...
I have exact same problem. And I don't leave my scanner on all the time. Only when I'm trying to use. Obviously a glitch with this model.
Exactly the same problem: worked fine until one day it just scans 'blank' yet seems to think that this is an image with information and wants to save it when scanning either from Photoshop as a 24bit or directly from the control panel. Yet if trying to scan as a 'home' or 'full auto' mode, it tells me there is no document on the table.
My Epson Perfection 1670 just started doing the same thing. Goes through the motions with no errors and no picture. Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
Same problem....nice to know I'm not crazy. Worked one day and then......continue to receive messages that there isn't a document on the scanner bed to be scanned....no help out there???
I’ve been having this problem on and off for a year, occasionallyreinstalling the scanner will make it work. I’ve seen lots of suggestions onother sites that this is a hardware problem I think it probably is not. I recentlystruggled for hours to get my scanner to work in XP on a old hard drive as I couldn’tfind any drivers for Vista x64 and nothing seem to work. Then I came across adriver for X64 on Epson’s USA web site (epson.com-why they haven’t put this onthe UK web site is a bit of a mystery), I installed it on a relatively newVista set up and it worked straight away. If it was a hardware problem installingon a different OS would not make any difference or reinstalling on the same OSfor that matter. It looks like there is a compatibility issue with the driversoftware and XP in my case. I’m sorry I can’t fix this for everyone but is youhave an alternative OS without your scanner already set up on it you should trythat. Good Luck
I installed a new Epson Printer-Scanner. Prints great from the Scanner --but no picture on the Gateway Computer Screen. How do I get the pictures on the screen or in the Computer for later use???
