Hi! You might have weak battery,. Check your battery if its fully charge. Another reason could be your lens was destroyed. It may have been fallen to the ground. It needs replacement to function properly. See a qualified technician to check this matter.

Camera lens won't shut

This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error" (older Canons), "ACCESS" error (Sony), "Zoom Error" (Fuji), "Lens Obstructed" (Kodak), "lens error, restart camera" or just "lens error" (nearly all camera makers lately use this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move.

There is probably dirt in the camera that restricts operation, the other concern is damaged gears, camera is trying to focus.

My kodak m341 won't turn on......when you press the on button, the lens comes out, then goes staight back in. The screen comes on for a split second when the lens comes out. that is all it will...

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

I dropped the camera and the zoom lens got off line. It won't close or go back in the camera. It looks stuck and I tried pushing it in but I'm afraid that I might push hard that it'll break...

The lens may be fixable but most likely will need to be replaced.
If the lens is stuck straight or won't come out at all it needs to be replaced.
If the lens is stuck at an angle then you may be able to snap it back to the center by pressing the edge of the lens back towards center while holding on the outer ring of the lens.
Hope this helps!

Your camera is still under the one year Nikon warranty. Call Nikon's repair depot at 1-800-NIKON-US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday. They will verify your warranty and assist you in returning it for repair.

When switching my camera on it just switches itself straight back off?

Hi there,

Make sure you have installed freshly charged batteries on your Kodak Camera. If you already have but problem still goes on, then try to do a little fix.

With your camera turned OFF, hold the camera on your right hand with the lens facing the ground. Then hit the camera's base on your left palm as you push the button to turn on the camera. You might have to do this a few times. What happens is that there could be a grit of sand that got stuck between your lens' barrel and the camera's base, preventing the lens to retract freely. If the above solution does not work, you might want to apply a bit of force by twist-pushing the lens inside with your index finger while trying to turn on the camera. The idea here is to remove that grit out of the camera.

Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FixYa.

Noise + lens problem

Not necesarely a lens problem. It could be, but also it could be a software or mecanical problem. You have to take the camera to a local Olympus dealer for repair. You cannot repair this on your own.

My camera wont turn on.

If the lens is stuck inside the camera and you hear a motor noise - changing batteries will not help. This has happened because the lens barrel is jammed inside the camera. Unfortunately, you will not be able to repair that issue. If the lens is stuck outside the camera, slightly tilted, and you hear a motor noise; you might be able to save camera. First, only use good batteries (stay away from alkaline batteries - waste of money), go with Energizer Lithium or Duracell Power Pix (you will get your moneys worth and have less problems with the camera). Second, very GENTLY, pull the lens barrel up and in the opposite direction of the tilt (to make the lens barrel straight), you will hear a slight click sound - DO NOT PUSH ON THE LENS BARREL!!!. Put in the new batteries and the lens should retract.
