I also get this printing from my Mac (though with my black cartridge). At £11.50GBP ($23USD) a pop, replacing the cartridge every time it happens is not an option. Turning the printer off at the plug seems to re-set it for a short time.

I had the same problem. It is not the black tank but the cyan on its right side, you understand that because the led of the cyan tank is off. If you reinsert more and more time the cyan tank until the cyan led go on you solve the problem

I have the same issue as well - I just open the printer, pop out the cyan cartridge, and reinsert it (the same one). This generally works - sometimes I need to do it once or twice. I figure I'll be patient and keep doing this until I a) finish the cyan ink cartridge, b) replace it out of annoyance, or c) through the printer out the window in total frustration.

Interesting to hear about "faulty" cartridges though - I shell out for the "authentic" Canon cartridges which you would think would be reliable - maybe I should switch to using the imitation ones if I'm going to have issues with them anyway...?

I have just tried this solution and it has worked (hum, for how long ?) :
Turn your printer off.
Keep pushed the middle button for about 6 seconds (the one that is blinking in yellow, seven times for the error 1681)
Your printer should turn on and work again.
Hope it will solve your / my problem.
Sorry for my poor english Francois

Replace the cyan cartridge again. There are quite a few faulty new cartridges getting around. This will fix it everytime. Seen it hundreds of times.

Says the cyan ink cartraige is empy but it is new, replaced it with another new one and still says its empty

remove all cartridges and close the lid. Wait for "ink cartridges missing..." error to appear then install all cartridges and close the lid. If the error persists, remove all cartridges then clean the cyan chip and corresponding contacts in the printer with damp cotton bud. Dry well (with dry c/bud) then fit cartridges back in. If still no good, contact HP.

hope this helps

HP Laserjet 5550dtn printer is giving error 59.51, what will be the problem?

This code means there is a Cyan Cartridge motor error. The most common cause of this error is the Cyan Toner/Drum cartridge is binding up and causing the motor to stop turning. I would try removing then re-installing the Cyan cartridge first and see if it goes away. If not then replace the Cyan cartridge with a new cartridge. If the problem persists then there is a problem with the drive assembly for the Cyan cartridge.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Wont print with all new ink cartridges

If the error message is only "magenta/cyan low", it doesn't cause any error. The low message stays after replacing ink cartridges if they're replaced too early (before they're indicated as actually empty), it doesn't cause the printer to not work.
However, some other problem might be faulty, or there might be another error message. Try emptying printer queue and print from Ink Management -> Menu/set (twice) to check wether the problem is with communication from pc or if the printer actually is unable to print.

I have Canon M560 printer installed 8 months ago. I replaced the CLI 221 Magenta and CLI221 Cyan ink cartridges, won't work and got this message Error 1411. Tried repeatedly to reinstall the ink cartridges and still have this message coming back. Any solution you could offer? I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Installed a new refilled PG-5BK ink cartridge into an MP530 printer and get the error message 1681.

Thats because of usingthe refilled cartridge. Most printers these days have a sensor to detect the use of refilled cartridges, or even generic (3rd party) ones. They do this to prevent customers from buying cheaper 3rd party cartridges. Its kind of unfair business practice, but what to do?

Use an original, new cartridge, and this error will go.

Error 1681 more than one Cyan cartridge installed

Dear all,
To fix this problem, first check which ink blinks, then replace it with new one. If this does not fix your problem, here are possibilities: carriage part error, logic board error. Be careful of short circuitry problem in this case. It may harm other electrical part
