BMW E36 316I BUILD DATE 21-5-1994 ALARM RESET AFTER BATTERY CHANGE
Alarm was going off intermittently after battery replacement.
This is how I fixed it after much research. Hope this helps someone.
Open all doors, bonnet and boot lid.
Put ignition key to position one in ignition (First click)
Disconnect Battery at negative earth lead
Short positive battery lead to earth for 15 minutes to discharge all capacitors in ECU etc.
Remove shorting lead from battery
Reconnect battery at earth lead with key still in ignition at position one for 5 minutes.

Car alarm resetting

Have you tried unlocking the drivers door with the key? This is a common way to re-set a factory alarm system. If you have an aftermarket alarm there is often a small toggle switch mounted under the drivers side steering column.

Where do i find alarm module on a 1997 bmw 318i e36, its a cobra alarm?????

Where ever they mounted it, hard to say. Get under the dash on the drivers side and look for black box that looks out of place.

E36 BMW 318i. Have serviced car and reset service indicator. Now car won't start (cranks but won't fire). Diagnosis shows error with EWS

Your cars Alarm/disabler is on. It's an anti theft device built into CPU. You need BMW or a competent specialty shop to look at it.

How do I reset my alarm on my 1999 316i bmw ( e36 ) ?

Wow this I recently delt with, there is a weird way to reset what bmw calls the lockdown mode or something like that, you use the key in the passeger door in a certain way. find a shop with michell1 or call the dealer and they should be able to tell you. but this is only if you particular car has entered this manuel lockdown mode. I found this strange as the bmw i was dealing with according to mitchell1 actually manually takes the door lock linkage apart in the lock assembly so that the alarm computer must be reset for the locks to function even manually!!

My wifes 94 camry will not start after changing of the battery. No lights, radio or anything.I suspect the alarm is doing it's job but i am not certain, any pointers...Thanks

Find out the alarm manufacturer And get the solution for a reset. Or find its location and disable it for now....then try to start it you should be able to if its the alarm disabling the starting system. Is there any indication of the alarm working? a blinking? If so...I would say alarm issue....Hope I helped!

BMW convertible (325ic) E36 will not start-security system

security systems simply get between the key and the engine. The wire that is your engine run circuit is cut and and rerouted through the alarm module. Find this alarm module, find the two wires that have the same color code that are spliced into the two wires off the nodule. At this point, Do'nt cut them, jump them to each other and see if it will start. Alarm systems work on the time, pressure theory. In truth , the alarn wiring is stpid and simple. The secret is to put pressure on the thief by limiting the time he has to locate the wiring and bypass it by making alot of noise and flashing lights. Take your time and you can find and figure out which wires were cut and soliced into the module. If you have any questions, let me know.@ [email protected].

ALARM LIGHT ON THAT LOOKS LIKE A TRIANGLE WITH ARROW CIRCLING IT. WHAT DOES IT MEAN

On a 1998 3 series (E36) BMW, this indicator lamp is for the ASC+T = automatic stability control plus traction. It should go shortly after the ignition is switched on implying that the system is OK.
If the indicator lamp fails to go out after the engine is started, or comes on in the course of normal vehicle operation it means that the system has malfunctioned. The vehicle remains operational, but without ASC+T. You a have an 2001 3 series (E46), but I suspect the indicator lamp means the same as the E36 3 series. Look in owners manual under "indicator lamps"
