I cannot get my computer to start at all.

I cannot get my Toshiba Labtop to start at all (It just shows the starting up/now loading screen, and I've waited for almost two hours) and my HD (MK1637GX) is making an extremely worrying crunching noise whenever I try, followed by beeping loudly.

Noises made by your HD is a clear sign of mechanical problem, your laptop cannot access the system files on your HD anymore. Have the HD replaced.

Go to Start and click on it. A list will come up - Click on computer.
Now look for "DVD Drive" and click on it. This drive should now be activated to view the DVD.

Will turn in but won't really start up, message pops up sayin I have problems on my laptop but it can't fix them? Read description

When your toshiba splash screen is showing on startup, press F8 continuously, then you should get some options, go to the one that says safe mode. After loading windows in safe mode click start, search, and type system restore. Open system restore, find a date where your pc was working correctly and click restore. If this doesn't do it on the toshiba spash screen (if you have a new enough laptop) there will be an option called system recovery usually f11 key, this will restore your pc back to its factory state and should resolve any problems your having. If you don't have that option go to https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/serviceUnitVerification.jsp and see if you can order a set of recovery disc's for your model, they usually run from $25-$30. Hope this helps.

I have tried holding the zero key while pressing the start button on my toshiba satellite, but it does nothing to bring up any recovery.

Try hitting any of the following keys:
  • F8 (should bring up the windows boot screen, and on there you should see "Repair your Computer" or something similar).
  • esc
  • del
  • f7
  • r
  • c
  • ~
  • home
I believe F8 is the one you need to hit, but the others are keys I've seen to be various boot options in the bios. Note: F8 needs to be hit after the BIOS screen but before the loading windows screen.

I have a toshiba laptop a210-st1616. recently it would not load a computer guy told me that toshiba has a lot of problems with heating up. I would like to know if there is anything I can do myself to fix...

Many things cause a computer to not start up once in a while. Viruses, new software issues,
new hardware issues, but heat will cause it to shutdown, get lazy or slow, lock up, multiple images on the screen. One thing you can do is ck your BIOS settings, Press DEL. or ESC as it boots. Check your settings. Save the set up defaults, that should be safe.If you think its a heat thing, B-buy sells a laptop cooling pad, you put under your labtop to cool it. Always ck for viruses, and unwanted spywear.
