Recording I bought a JVC Pro-cision VCR without the remote. And I'm having problems trying to record shows with a specific time and channel. I was just wondering if there is a way to preset the VCR without the remote. Thanks so much, Meka

It sounds like the remote you have, the JVC 076D0FB010, does not have the capability to program future recordings on your JVC HR-XVC1U or HR-XVC27U machines. This feature is typically called "timer recording" or "scheduled recording," and it is controlled by the VCR's built-in programming features, rather than by the remote.
You may want to check the user manual for your JVC HR-XVC1U and HR-XVC27U machines to see if there is a way to set timer recordings using the VCR's own controls. If the manual does not provide instructions for timer recording, it is likely that this feature is not available on your VCRs.
Alternatively, you can consider purchasing a universal remote that has the ability to program future recordings. Some popular universal remotes include the Logitech Harmony and the Philips Universal Remote Control.

The VCR/DVD combo that you purchased will be able to record what you wish to a VHS tape at low quality or to a DVD at a higher quality.

1. Coax cable (round and screw on) from the antenna to VCR/DVD
2. Coax/AV/HDMI cable (only need 1) from the VCR/DVD player to TV
3. TV on and turned to the input matching the cable you used in step 2
4. Turn on VCR/DVD and use the remote control included with this unit. Not the TV's
5. Turn it to the channel 11 on the VCR/DVD
6. Put in a VHS tape or DVD-R to record onto
7. You will be able to hit record whenever the show comes on or used timed recording in the menu to schedule it ahead of time

Timer recording can be programmed on-screen with
the remote control. The built-in timer allows automatic
unattended recording of up to 8 programs within 1
month.

EXAMPLE: Program a timer recording for the 26th day,
channel 125 (CATV), 11:00 - 11:30 PM on timer program
number 1 (Tape speed: EP).

When a TV is connected with an audio/video cable, turn the
TV and this VCR on and select the video input mode on the
TV.


• After timer recording is completed, the VCR turns off
automatically.
• You can program the timer recording while a regular
recording is in progress; the menu screens will not be
recorded.
• The timer recording will start at 20 seconds before the time
you predetermined.

Press MENU on the Remote.
Check the “TIMER REC SET”
option is selected, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select one of
the program lines, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select the
date, then press ENTER.

Set the start time, end time,
channel and tape speed as in
step 3.
NOTE: To record from external
source, press SET –/+

I have Dish Network and a DVR and I do not know what I would do without it. I can record 2 shows at once and watch to 2 recorded programs while recording two shows. But getting to your problem... It sounds like the vcr cannot process the digital signal. You could try hooking up the vcr to the rca inputs from the cable box but you will only be able to record whatever channel the cable box is on. Any way you hook them up the programming of the vcr to change channels at different times for different programs probably won't work now. It sounds like Direct TV with two DVRs will solve your recording needs.

make sure the tv is on channel 3, and the vcr also on channel 3 -if trying to record from cable or satalite. then make sure tape is rewound all the way. do a test by hitting record on vcr. let it record for a few minutes. rewind it, then just hit play. Dont change any channels until you are ready to record the program of choice. After this test. And recording is successful. Rewind the tape again. And change the channel to your choice. Hit record at time of or go into menu of your vcr and set up a time to record shows.

set your VCR to moniter the jacks you are useing ot plug the camera in!...same channel !

tune in the AV channel on the VCR to the TV and save the settings, then you should be able to record your programmes

when you are programing the shows and you highlight the tape speed use your channel up and down button to change tape speed.

Connectivity problem. Without knowing your models and their available channels etc., it's very difficult to advise you exactly.
Broadly though ...... you need to get the input signal routing sorted.
Plug your aerial into the Freeview box. Make a connection from its RF out, (beside the aerial 'in' socket) to the aerial 'in' socket on the JVC. Run yet another co-axial connection from the JVC RF 'out' to the television.
Now - connect a scart lead between the JVC and the TV. Power off the freeview. Switch your TV to accept A/V - to show the JVC on screen. Read/go through the 'Set up' procedure on the JVC to scan in the available broadcast channels. When done - connect using a scart between the Freeview box and the JVC. This will be located on either the L1 or L2 channel selection.
IF as it seems you are using the freeview to watch all your programmes - and record in then you are simply watching and recording 'live' change the Freeview programme and the JVC gets that same one arriving in (and sending to the TV)
Unless you need to record Freeview only output - always record from the aerial input. You select via the television remote (and 'TV' selected) and the appropriate channel.
Complex to explain - hope it helps. The one thing to remember - is to make one set of changes at a time - check the result is okay, before moving to the next.
