Hello there:
you have a couple of options here
first go to control panel>>system> hardware manager.
right click on the sound and audio device update driver.
let windows find the driver, and install it. and if this doesent work
i highly recommend dowloading vinal ac 97 this is a free audio suite that features a mixer device and a eqalizer that gives the sound a boost i use it in a lot of the computers that i repair for people ok
I hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

3rd USB Port doesn't work and "no audio output device is installed" in Vista 32-bit

The USB port is damaged, or missing the driver for that port, check device manager.

I have installed Windows 7 on my Hp 6602au. It worked fine for a couple of months , till yesterday . Suddenly I lost audio from my laptop. The message near audio icon showed "No Audion Output Device...

Run a Windows Update, check to see if there is an updated audio driver, if not go into the device manager and remove all of the audio devices, reboot.

That should resolve your issue.

Let me know if it doesn't ;)

try to uninstall the audio driver and reinstall it. maybe your sound card was disabled. X mark on the sound icon means NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE IS INSTALLED.
