My notebook DVD drive can't see even under my computer.I can see only harddisk. but DVD drive can see in BIOS. how to do? help me , please. my one is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N. It shows error code 39

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N IS MISSING OR CORRUPTED ( CODE 39)

Hi,

1) Close all open programs

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter

3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • SYSTEM
  • CurrentControlSet
  • Control
  • Class
  • {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

  • UpperFilters
  • LowerFilters
  • UpperFilters.bak
  • LowerFilters.bak
5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

6) After deleting the keys, close the registor editor


7) Go Device manager right click on Computer (Vista) -go to properties left hadside Device manager

click the + on the CD DVD drive you will find the you find the exclamation mark right uninstall that driver and Reboot your system and the issue was resolve .

I read over the solution to the problem by deleting the lower keys in the registry,,restarted and it works fine again,,thank you.
The 1st time I tried it, there was now upper or lower keys because i had uninstalled the driver 1st.
