My dell inspiron 700m inspiron screen cracked so I replaced it. I purchased the new one from Laptop LCD panels (Dell Inspiron 700M 12.1 Inch Glossy 1280 x 800 Laptop Lcd Screen) to connect it I used the fancy cable that plugs into the back of the lcd screen and into the MOBO from my old lcd screen. When I boot up the computer that cable gets gets extremely hot and electrically smelly. Figuring they sent me a bad lcd screen i tried the old lcd screen again. Even though the old lcd screen was cracked it still worked sort of so I hooked it back up and the same darn thing happend with the wire. I thought I would try hooking up to an external monitor to make sure the video card was not fried and it works just fine. What gives? Is that darn fancy cable bad and need replaced or is this a MOBO issue or is it the LCD screen inverter? If it is the inverter how because it seems out of the loop. If its the cable would there be a short in it somehow?
