Yes .. the print heads can be calibrated to compensate for cold labels or you could just warm them up .. if they are really cold then it takes longer to expose the image .. if you dont compensate for that then the letters will not be fully developed (grey)

The DC power supply drives that motor and may start running it backwards when it begins to fail. The motor normally makes more noise than usual in both directions when it starts to fail like this.
Google "43470-002 power supply, Xi III +" and you will be able to purchase the part.
Did you try any of the self test labels? When the printer is turned off, press and hold either the PAUSE or CANCEL front panel buttons while you turn the printer on.
If a label prints out, you likely have communications issues (maybe bad printer cable) or possibly printer driver issues (try to download and install the Seagull driver from www.seagullscientific.com)
Simply press the PAUSE button then press CANCEL. If you have sent a batch of 500 labels, though, you will have to press CANCEL 500 times. I usually just turn the printer off, cancel the job in the printer driver status box, then wait for all of the error messages to pop up.
Zebra printers use 2 methods to sense the gap between labels. Transmissive or Reflective. Your labels have a black mark on the backing. Your printer uses these black marks to detect the gap between your labels. Ensure that your printer's mode is set to REFLECTIVE & check that your printer driver media also is set to BLACK MARK. Print a config label to look at your printer settings.
I resolved the problem by going into the setup program and then exiting and at that point I was prompted to save my changes and one of the options was to load Default settings. Once I chose this I was able to print on the 4X6 labels correctly, before that the configuration was feeding a label and 1/2 and print across two labels.
Did you design the label? Do you have any control over the label design? This is usually a sign that the printer is trying to excede the page limit (usually by one dot row) and is going to the next label to finish. By making the label length slightly smaller, you can stop this.
