D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 Wireless Router (DI624RE) Logo

Internet Connection My DI-624 is connecting two desktops to a Westell DSL Router. Problem is the DI-624 cannot connect to the internet. If the DI-624 is removed (One desktop connected directly to the Westell the internet connection is fine. Also, when both desktops are connected to the DI-624 the network works fine and I can even play computer games with another user sitting at the second desktop. So why is my DI-624 having such a hard time seeing an internet connection when connected to the Westell? I have tried everything, running the Wizard, checking Firmware versions, rebooting / restarting etc. Any suggestions? ~G

My computers are picking up the wireless but can't connect to the internet

It's a good thing that your computers are picking up the Wifi connection. But the connection to the Internet is another matter. Call tech support of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to make sure that your Modem (Cable or DSL) is configured to connect to the Internet at all.

So you are connecting the DSL Modem output to the D-Link's LAN port 1, right? In this case, you should connect the DSL Modem output to the D-Link's WAN Port, which is between the power input and the LAN outputs.

If it doesn't work that way, check this out:

DSL line disconnects on WRT54GS only

Try to change the LAN IP address of your router to 192.168.2.1 by accessing the router's Setup page. You also need to set your Westell modem to "full-bridge mode". You need to ask assistance from your ISP to bridge the modem. After that, set-up the Linksys router to PPPoE then power cycle it.
