There may be dust building up in the ODS safety pilot assembly. The simplest way toresolve this is to flish the pilot with rust buster. Why rustbuster? It has a telescoping tube that makes it easy to direct the squirt into the pilot. Let it dry then retry. You will be amazed.

Dyna-Glo Heater using a whole tank of propane in like 5 or 6 hours.

Unless you have a leak, or to small of a tank, it is using a lot of BTU's

How long will one pound propane tank last

The 16.4 oz propane bottle contains 1.02 pounds of propane.
1.02 lbs propane equals 16.320 oz
16.320 oz equals 22.032 BTU’s.
The RMC-8001SS has two settings, maximum and minimum
The Max setting is rated at 8,000 BTU hour.
22.032 divided by 8,000 equals 2.754 or 2-3/4 hours
The Min setting is rated at 4,500 BTU hour.
22.032 divided by 4,500 equals 4.896 or 4.8 hours

One 16.4 ounce bottle will burn 22.032 BTU’s @8,000 BTU’s per hour for a period of approximately 2-3/4 hours and @ 4,500 BTU’s per hour for a period of approximately 4.8 hours.

20 lb tanks

Yes you can use a 20lb tank to run the heater. I purchased a adaptor hose it hand screws into heater & screws onto tank works fine. Bought the adaptor hose at HD.

Filters for dyna-glo pro

You can make your own filters out of felt and I have also found that with some minor modifications most of the parts from Mr. Heater will work with Dyna Glo. I have a 170btu kerosene heater and just installed an ignition, a high limit control and a flame sensor from Mr. Heater and it works like new.
