I am having problems with my refridgerator not cooling. One of the relays on the mother board on the back is clicking. This started with the water dispencer. I tried to get water and the light at the dispencer dimmed. Neither the water nor the ice would work. Then the clicking started. I removed the metal cover for the mother board and found that a relay was cycling on and off. I have no other way of keeping my food cold so I started trouble shooting to get the fridge running. I was able to use a jumper wire across the left and right prongs of the three prong plug at the bottom of the mother board to run the cooling system. Once the clicking stops I remove this jumper. The cooling system will not stop on its own. I do not recommend doing this but I had no choice. Also a person must know what they are doing, I am an electrician at trade.

i have the same problem. The clicking sound from the back of the refrigerator and it stops when the water/ice dispenser lever is pressed. And now, the refrigerator is warm (not cool as it use to be,in the freezer -no ice forming in the cube tray). what's the solution? where is the problem in the fridge.

Same problem, throwing out food. Pulled off back panel, definately the circuit board clicking, fan not turning. Refrigerator is not that old, 2 maybe 3 years old. Not happy!

My problem started with the water & ice dispensor. Ice dispensor wouldn't dispense ice & when you pushed the dispensor the light on the front would dim. After several days the water dispensor quit working also. Then I noticed the temp inside the frig and freezer had warmed. I unplugged the frig for several minutes and when I plugged it back up the relay on the mother board would sit and click. You could see the fan on condensor trying to start. So I started disconnecting different things from the mother b. trying to see if one of them would let it start back. The four plugs at the top of the board;three in a row and one below the three, the one below the three would let it start back, but as soon as I plug it back the relay starts clicking again. So I unplugged the fan and it would start back and I could plug the fan back and it would stay running. It seems like it is cooling to long though. And when it does cut off and back on the same thing.

My 5 year old GE profile refigrator stopped working today. it has been making a ticking noise and the unit won't come back on. I unplugged and replugged and nothing happened. theres no tempeture lights on....

This problem sound to me like the timer is stuck on defrost. That is the only control on the refrigertor that makes a ticking noise. Try to manually advance it.

Clicking noise approximately 1 second apart

That clicking noise is possibly your compressor overload kicking off because it cannot start the compressor. Most times the start relay or the start capacitor are defective. But because your refrigerator has a mother board located on the back and behind a panel. We need to consider the board is going out. Unplug the refrigerator and pull away from the wall. Remove the screws on the rear panel to expose the mother board. Need to look for burn marks on both sides or a signed that a relay has been over heating. The board is part number WR55X10656
a5ba56b.jpg If we find the board is OK, we can check the other components mentioned, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Side by side stopped working but clicling noises every second two.

Ok the motherboard is malfunctioning. Ive observed this exact problem before. Replace the board and all will be normal again. If you keep lettig it click and click it may finally kill that relay that you descibed to me or even worse the compressor itself.

Side by side GE frig

I'm assuming you didn't turn the unit off! It may take 2 days to get that defrosting done. Don't forget to clean the condenser coil.

Nothing else should be needed....Good luck!

Works Off and On

Do you hear any clicking during the time it is not working? The start relay on the compressor may have a bad connection internally.
