Carefully take the projector apart. Find someone with an air compressor once the cover is taken off of the projector and you can then get to the main fan from both sides. Blow it out as much as possible and make sure to put emphasis on the fan. Re-Assemble the projector and everything should work fine after that. Mine did the fan lock thing right when I put the new lamp in and this fixed it after Optoma told me to send it in for service. I had nothing to lose because I would buy a new projector before I spent that much to fix this one. Truest me it works.
The lamp probably blew because the fan stopped. if the lamp can't cool down, it blows. you'll have to find out which fan and replace it.
Had the same problem with my HD65 Optoma. After replacing the lamp... Fan Locked. If you hear a fan running more than likely it is the bigger fan beside the lamp. The other fan inside the two little squared holes is what's locked. To get to it one must remove the mother board. When I got the fan out and cleared it there was a CHIP OF THE PREVIOUS BROKEN BULB THAT LODGED THE FAN BLADE.
To disassemble the projector is not extremely hard for a novice who has disassembled electronics before. One should just take there time removing the connectors. I believe there is a disassembly video out there. Along with a standard small Phillip head screw drive, one will need a small hexagonal socket thing (Sorry cannot recall the size I used. I have a set).
