Maytag Neptune MLE2000AYW won't spin, motor wont ever move during motor control test in service document, I never get any output on the motor output leads to drive the motor. Switching power supply just...

Three places I check for appliance parts, besides the local appliance repair store, are:

RepairClinic: http://www.repairclinic.com/Circuit-Board-Or-Timer-Parts?s=t-MLE2000AYW-%3d%3dc13

AppliancePartsPro: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47166

ApplianceZone: http://www.appliancezone.com/SearchProducts.aspx?id=MLE2000AYW&ctl00%24MainContent%24btnSearch=GO%21

It sounds like you have gone through the tests in the Service Book, and usually when the motor won't spin it is the control board, the motor, or the wiring harness. If you are getting no power from the leads on the control board to the motor, I would replace the control board. If you had or have any codes that come up on the machine, what are they? I have had to replace many motor control boards, and everytime it gets the machine going again. Only a few times did I actually have to replace the motor. It sounds like your motor is fine though. The most common cause of failure in these motor control boards is electrical surge. Many control boards now have built in surge protection to help prevent failures.

Will not complete cycle..shows F11. This has been an ongoing problem, cannot get anyone to fix. What would you recommend? Would like to tell the world not to buy!

The F11 error code indicates a serial communication problem between the central control board and the motor control board. This can be caused by:

  • A loose or failed wire harness connection between the central control board and the motor control board.
  • A bad wire harness connection between the motor control board and the drive motor.
  • A failed drive motor.
  • A defective motor control board.
  • A failure in the central control board.

Kenmore Elite Smartwash Quiet Pak 9. Washing bedding on "bulky/bedding", washer beeps, get error code F then 11. Messed with it a bit, now in Control Locked. Yikes. Help! Robin

Washer will suddenly shows the F11 error code...at times it may show the FdL code. The washer will then not finish no matter what I do. If I unplug the unit from the outlet that does not guarantee that when I plug it back in it will start up. Fifty percent of the time it still shows the F11 error. It can take hours to finally get the washer to cancel out so I can take the laundry out that has not been spun out.

The diagnosis of this failure usually requires a technician. If you are able to unplug the washer and safely access the central control board and motor control board, you can check for a loose wire harness connection. Beyond that, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer. The location of the internal washer components and component access for the central control board and the motor control board are in the images below.

I've only seen one of these belts break in my 7 years of fixing Neptune's. I have replaced dozens of motor/ motor control board kits. Maytag upgraded the washer motors about 5 years ago, if yours is older it's probably got the older style motor. If that's the case you need to verify that the motor control board is getting power from the main control board, if it is, then you need to replace both the motor and motor control board (it comes as a kit). If it isn't you need to put 120 volts to the motor control board and see if the motor spins at 50 rpm (normal agitate speed), if it does, you just need the main control board, if it still doesn't run you need the main board and the motor/ motor control kit. If it has the newer motor, you would also need to test and replace the motor and/ or the motor control board separetly.

Maytag washer issues

Could be just about anything. It's all designed to prevent it from spinning if there is a problem. If the motor is still turning, but never gets up to spin speed, check the out of balance circuit. There are two cabinet strike switches and an inertial unbalance switch. Or check the door latch assembly, it's possible for the door to lock enough to turn the 'door lock' light on, but not move far enough to actuate the 'spin enable' switch. Maytag has upgraded the motor/ motor control board for the older Neptunes. If the motor is not running at all, check that the main control board is sending power to the motor control board. If it is you need the motor/ motor control kit (just one part #) If the main board is not sending power to the motor control board, you need a main control board, but you still need to test the motor control board. Take a test cord and put 120 volts to the motor control board, the motor should start turning at 50 rpm (normal agitate speed) if it doesn't you would need the motor/ motor control kit as well.
