When the video cable is connected, make sure the tv is on input S-Video, then you may have to hold down the Fn key + the F4 key, this toggles the video processor to the different outputs in the laptop.

Hello,
When the hardware connection is made: S video in laptop port and S-video in TV there remain two things to do.
1. On the computer, extend your desktop to show on the TV. On my laptop I press Fn-F5, and an OSD appears. I can choose the output to the TV and the internal LCD by holding the Fn key while pressing the F5 key. Each time I press the F5 key the focus moves to another icon (TV only, Monitor only, LCD and monitor, etc.)
Once you know how to externd the display or divert it to the external screen, you can take care of the TV.
On the TV remote (the easiest way), there must be a key labeled AV, AUX, or some such thing. Once you press it, and OSD appears on the TV screen giving you several input options :TV, AV, S-Video, PC. Select S-Video. It will tell you no signal if you have not yet diverted screen output of laptop to it.
Use the Fn-Fx key to send the signal to the TV.
This may not be the way to configure the connection for your laptop-TV combination, but I am venturing it anyway in the hope that it will help you solve the problem.

However there are no better sources of information than your laptop manual, and the TV user guide.

With the laptop connected to the TV, push the Windows Key and the P key at the same time. You will see a windows pop up, see the attached image. You want it to be on the Duplicate or Extend option. You can also try the Projector Only option.kiddfroster.jpg

Vga Cable

You have an S-Video Out port. That appears to be your only option.

The other side depends on your TV, which may have S-Video In, or you may have to get an S-Video to RCA adapter.

There's a diagram of the S-Video connector here, so you know which one I'm talking about:

Connecting laptop to sony hdmi tv

There is a option on T.V.'s that you need to put it to VGA on the t.v. also you can go into properties on the output of the video to the t.v. and laptop to verify that it is sending a signal.
Also check to make sure all the cords are pressed in properly and that the cord doesn't have any cuts or cracks in it or any pins are bent at one or another end it happens sometimes it get's plugged in the pins aren't hard to bend.

Hooking up my hp laptop to a sony trinitron tv

Hello,

Let me explain on how to connect the TV to HP notebook.

There are two ways to connect the TV to the notebook. One is with the S-Video cable and another one is HDMI cable. (If you computer had HDMI port)

Connecting notebook and TV with S-video cable:

You need to get the Svideo cable and connect it to the notebook Svideo port to TV Svideo port and press Fn+ F4 to get the notebook display on the TV.

For the first time pressing the Fn+F4 keys, you will get the display on the TV and there will be no display on the Notebook.

If you press the Fn+F4 for second time, you will get display back to the notebook and Tv screen becomes blank.

By pressing the same keys again will show the display on both the screen.

Samething connecting with the HDMI cable, if your computer had HDMI port.

If you won't get the display on the external screen even after following the correct process, then once you need to reinstall the display driver.

If the issue persists, then you have to check with another cable.

Note: No need to install any software on the notebook to connect the TV to the notebook.
