Startup problems My computer just started to mess up this morning it was working fine last night. I didn't shut the computer down, so it was running all night. I tried to get on in the morning it 'froze up' so I held the power button to let it shut down by itself, and it normally shuts down right away, but this time the screen started fading white, and it didn't make any progress from there. So then I held the power button down for 5sec. to shut the computer off, and when I went to turn it back on, it would make two beeping sounds and go to a black screen that says "Press F1 to resume, F10 to Setup" and the problem is I can't access the functions on the keyboard. (it's pretty much frozen)

the 'computer' is actually a laptop. It's an HP pavillion ze 2000, I can't access the bios.

I'm not alone! I've been getting this "stuck on the black screen with options to select F-whatever" for a few weeks now - I've unplugged and replugged, all the usual steps but sometimes it can take (seriously!) 20-30 reboots before the computer actually gets going. I'd be grateful for any insights.

HP Psavilion dv 2000 will not boot up. Lights on, fan on, and after several attempts it does eventually boot up, but very frustrating to have to keep turning on and off until it works.

Check your keyboard connection (unplug and plug again). If not works try another of same type.

My 96 grand cherokee is shutting down, have replaced almost everything but crank sensor will this be the end of my problems???please help

If the crank sensor is failing, you should get a check engine light and a trouble code for it.
Have you had the computer checked for trouble codes ?

Proper shut down

Hi doodu13appa,

Nothing beats a complete "Shut Down" through the Start menu in the lower left-hand corner of your Windows screen. This allows all open windows to be properly closed, with current data saved, memory and cache cleared. This is like going to bed at night with nothing on your mind, sleeping soundly, and waking up refreshed in the morning.

Then, when the computer is powered up the next time, it will be operating at its optimum performance levels without being "bogged" down with excessive leftover garbage from previous sessions. There's nothing wrong with powering your laptop, or desktop, down by clicking the power button and letting it go into standby, sleep, or hibernate mode, much of the time. It leaves you with a quick-startup the next time you are ready to use your computer, and most of your open programs will still be running in the background. Clicking on your logon will have your right back where you last left off.

Air worked fine all last night and his morning.

if the air comes on for a short time and then turns off for 15-30 minutes, the overload protection inside the compressor is shutting down to protect the compressor. this can be caused by blocked supply or return vents, improper charge, bad valves in the compressor, and a multitude of other things. the problem will have to be corrected first.

Startup logo appears then it goes to a black screen and blinks

You should try booting into safe mode. Press the F8 key before the windows logo and choose safe mode without network support. If windows loads run a checkdisk by right clicking on the c drive, left click on properties and then select the tools tab. From there you can run a disk test to check for errors. If you get that far then reboot and see if it starts normally. If not try F8 again and try selecting restore the last known working condition. This will restore your settings from the last time it worked. If you can’t get to the F8 screen get back with me and I will try a few more drastic solutions. Good Luck

Crash!!

Could be Heat, sounds like the system is shutting down to protect the processor. Let it sit shut down over night and see if it runs longer when it's cooled down. Is the fan running?

Compaq notebook won't boot up

Hi

When you boot the computer back up go into Safe Mode and check to see if you can roll the computer back to the point before you installed the software.

If so this should work. If it works then run a virus scan, a defrag of the hard drive and cleans the temp files.

OR

You can do a diagnostic startup and uninstall Onecare. So once that it is uninstall ed it should be smooth sailing.

Here is a link for some startup / diagnostic software you could try after booting.

I hope this helps

/Shawn
