My DVD drive does not open

I can not open the DVD drive to change discs. The player makes noises but the door does not open. Tried to remove the DVD drive but it seems that there is some secret trick to remove the front panel. Is there a way to open the DVD driver manually?

I suggest you may have accidently put another disk in your DVD drive on top of the one used previously without removing it first: I know, I did just that, and the teeth may now be sheared on the drive wheels which means it will probably need replacing with a new one.
To open manually, look for the tiny hole beside the Open/close button just under the drawer and insert a long slim steel probe which will activate a switch to open the drawer. (Have a look among your kitchen utensils, there might be something there).
Hope it works, but you may find you need a new DVD/RW unit, so have a look around in the New Year Sales and use the opportunity to buy the best you can find at a bargain price.

Hi,

We had the same problem. It seems the DVD tray grease has become thick resulting in sticking tray.
What helped with us was lifting the player on the front about 3 cm and let in fall back in place. The tray opened. With tray open we used hair fohn t warm the greame and make it thin. This worked for us perfectly

SOURCE: My DVD drive does not open

Yes, there is a manual way to open it. On most DVD players there is a small hole underneath the door. Push a paperclip in there until the door pops open a little. Then, pull open the door and remove your disk.

DVD player makes grinding sound and doors don't open

You may have a stuck DVD in the player. Most DVD players have a small pin type hole in the front where you can inser a paper clip to manually open the tray. Otherwise, you have to remove the cover of the drive to actually see what is happening. support hp com Maybe this link will be of some assistance.

How can I remove a DVD disc when the open/close switch is not qorking?

You can usually open a stuck disc drive bay with a paperclip. Look at your drive and check whether it has a small hole (see pic), it is usually near the button. Open the paperclip to give you a small prodding device. Place the paperclip into the hole and gently push until the door opens. Hope it works 25336095-4apljjurgwhtblpqenqx5pee-4-0.jpg

Disc door won't open. DVD in will still play. How can we make the door open

try to re start the power first to reset the supply in which the door unable to open and then push the open/close button to open the door. if still won't open maybe their is an stuck up at mechanical part, so turn off the player then use a Phillip screw driver to loosen the screws and to remove the cover of the DVD player .you can now access the disc mechanical assembly of your DVD player, remove the CD first and then check if the plastic gear is mis aligned or the the drive belt is broken.much better if you can apply silicon grease in plastic gear for smooth operation.then make sure the open/close button is ok, good luck and good day.

A DVD is stuck in the player and the door will not open, it makes a grinding noise when you try to open it.

well looks like the disc is lodged into the track thats why you cant open it, the grinding noise is the track slipping on the motor gears as it forces to attempt to open and fails..

what we need to do is open this up and remove the disc manually..

  1. unplug the device (dont wanna get electrocuted)
  2. remove the screws to the back and under the player
  3. lift the cover off by sliding it back then raising it up , prying with a bladed screw driver helps.
  4. you will now see the disc stuck under this metal / plastic piece if you can see the disc at all.
  5. remove the screws holding the disc tray top in place. remove the disc and reassemble.
that should solve the problem, let me know how it turns out of if you need more help if you ran into a tight spot.

Can't open the DVD door. Wen I turn on the DVD Player, it starts reading a DVD that's stuck inside, and after a while e turns off alone. The door doesn't open and it seems to have some process runing that...

you'll have to remove the top and remove the disk that way. there's a top bracket on the dvd drive to remove before you can get to the disk. and unplug the unit first!!

Stuck DVD tray

Turn off the computer and then use the paper clip to open the DVD tray.
If this doesn't work, then something is jaming and stopping the tray from opening. In this case, remove the DVD drive and dismantle the drive (ie. remove the metal cover to reveal the internal components and remove the CD ot DVD disc.
If nothing works the the DVD drive is faulty and needs to be replaced, these drives are not expensive.

Disc won't eject

The problem is either the dvd door motor is bad or the control board is having program issues. You can remove the screws to the cover of the player. Lift cover off and manually open the door and remove the disc. It is also possible that by manually pushing the door open will put the door gears back into alignment. If it doesn't it should be tested and repaired

DVD door won't open

It's likely the drive belt that controls the sledge the disc goes on has perished or fallen off. It should just need replacing.

The drawer on the unit won't open.

When the DVD player is plugged into power and switched on, and won't power up (nothing shows up in the front display panel), the power supply unit in the DVD is blown. the noise that player made was probably a capacitor going off. You will have to get the unit repaired.
