Replace capacitor c226

look for more capacitors on the computer board that have expanded ends that look like a can of food gone bad the unit was under powered and border line powered the capacitors so if you replaced the one with the same unit it may need an up graded unit with 10 or 15 volts larger

Stuck in hello mode.

Take top off.....look for a buldged capacitor on the circuit board that the power cord comes into first. That was my exact problem, and that was my exact solution. Just un-solder the blown capacitor, go to radio shack and buy a new one for $1.

RCA DRC8335 No power

Could be a faulty power supply in the actual unit. Check inside it for a fuse on the circuit board while its unplugged could be blown. Usually power into unit is higher AC voltage (DEATH) and a transformer lowers the voltage so if you take it to a technician they should be able to measure the lower dc voltages to see if the power supply is working ok and if any fuses are blown.

The machine has HELLO but will not start up. if i

Hello everyone having problems with there RCA DRC8335. If you are getting the HELLO sign and nothing else(which i was too).
First you have to find the blown capacitor. All the capacitors should have a flat top. If you find one that is not flat and if gets hot to the touch when your vhs/dvd player has power you found your source. Next unplug your dvd/vhs player and take out the blown capacitor. Do not waste your money tring to get it fix by a so call pro. The parts you need is less than .55 cents(lol). Now the capacitor that you take out should have a code number(mine was c226) which is located in the same area as the blown part. Measure the capacitor and call for your part number 1-800-344-4539 Digi-key.com will find the part you need(only if u know what part u need)
1.find the blown capacitor
2.remove it
3.get the number below the blown capacitor
4. measure it.
5.call for your part number
6.put your hard earn dollar(not dollars) to work
7.and you can say Thanks Maximilian Moore for saving me money

Following a power outtage,no control is

Hello
During a power outage, and with a regain, most of the electronic devices will get troubled with its power regulator section. As there is no display to your rCA, it means that thhere is no power comes to the internal circuit boards including display board. In most cases, failure of mains fuse occur when a AC spike comes in after a failure. If you are aware in electronics, just open your set, and look for any blown out fuse inside the mains supply system. Switch OFF the set, unplug it from AC mains and check. You can see this fuse in the mains inlet section itself. It will be a glass cartridge type, pressed into a holder. Just take it out, and check with a multimeter. If found opend [blown out] replace it with same type and ratings. Its ratings will be marked either on it rims by print, or colour bands which indicate the rating code. You can buy this from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. Never use an over rated one. If the fuse you insert will blow out, as soon as you switch ON the set, never put an other one; because there is some short circuit occured in its power soupply section, which needs through checking. it is really a skilled work; and should be done by any well experienced technician or by the Authorised Service Center for RCA. OK.

Unit Lockup

This fix is for those of you with knowledge of electronic repair......

The problem is a bad electrolytic capacitor on in the power supply board. The cap is a 470uf 16v (number C226 on the power supply board). Replace it with a 470uf with a rating of 25v to 50v and it should restore the power fucntion to normal. I have fixed six units this way so far. Hope this helps you all out!

STUCK IN HELLO

Good day!!!

if your player is stuck on the word HELLO on the display..

you player is not read the disc..please try to reboot the player..if the problem is still persist..

try to change the disc (no scratches)..

if the problem persist you need to clean the optical lens inside..please use CD cleaner to easily clean the lens but sometime the CD cleaner is not enough to operate the lens properly...if the same thing happen you need to clean the lens with cotton or cotton buds inside..

just open the cover and go to the eject position of the CD tray so that you can access the optical lens inside..
