Can you please be more specific as to whether it is a
1) power issue
2) No POST
3) NO Boot
4) No video

Power issue - the system does not turn on at all. In this case check the AC adapter and the battery.

No POST - You may have to check the Memory, Hard drive and the optical drivehp dv6000 don´t start - 2.gif. Can also be an issue with the video card/ key board/ mouse/main board which can prevent the system from turning on.
try reseating all the components above except the motherboard.

No Boot - Issue with the Operating system. Try booting into safe mode and check whether the system turns on perfectly. If so try to uninstall all the software you do not use. and may also consider a system restore. else consider a Dell Complete factory restore.

No video - Try flashing light on the screen and look for the desktop. If you see the icons then probably the back light needs to be changed else the issue is with the display itself or the video card2.gif.

Kindly comment.

I have seen a lot of laptops that dont seem to start lately. I have seen a lot of newer machines 1-3 years that have failed. I normally do a pretty thorough check of the system before giving up. Follow the instructions here:

http://icompute.info/laptop_doesnt_start.htm

Hope this helps...

Common issue on HP dv6000. You will need to get to the GUP and reflow it with a heatgun. Try this hp pavilion repair guide. It contains step by step instructions on how to take apart the system and fix the issue with the video. www.msbin.com/hp

Frontal panel setup for P17G/1333 (V1.0A) mother board

I have found a manual for that motherboard at

In general when troubleshooting this type of problem minimise the amount of problems by removing any cards and or memory - whilst still allowing the machine to function. try reseating all memory and cards as well, as these can sometimes come loose during transit.
