I know you can find aftermarket filters at a lower price, but I'm a fan of OEM parts. Have had too many disappointments with the cheap, Chinese parts.

Turn off the water supply, put a towel under the filter compartment, turn the old one CCW, put in the near one and turn CW. Reset the indicator by pressing and holding for 3-5 seconds.

SOURCE: how to replace the filter

Hello,

Take the new water filter out of the box and remove the two red shipping caps on the end of the filter.
The water filter is located on the front panel down near the floor.
Push the release button located just to the left of the water filter grille cap, this will release the filter.
Remove the grille cap from the filter by twisting it counterclockwise.
Reinstall the grille cap on the new water filter.
Insert the new water filter in the refrigerator making sure the words on the filter are the correct side up.
Push the water filter in until it clicks in place.
Flush Water After Installing New Filter
Be sure you flush out the water from the new filter after you replace it! Many readers are having trouble with airlocks because they are skipping this important step. Kenmore recommends you run the water out of the water and ice maker for a few minutes to flush out the new filter. This also helps remove air bubbles from the system. If you don’t do this it’s possible that the water dispenser may not work properly due to an air lock.

This particular water filter claims to reduce:
Cysts and turbidity – linked to gastrointestinal problems
Lead
Chlorine – taste and odor for better tasting water
Sediment – for clearer water
o-Dichlorobenzene – linked to risk of liver, kidney, or circulatory system problems
Benzene – linked to increase risk of cancer and anemia.
Note continue changing the filter on a regular basis.
Hope this helpout....

How do I buy and replace the water filter on my fridgeGWL207FBQA?

In a nut shell this is how to do it:
Find the water filter housing in the top area of the Refrigerator. Remove the cap/cover (turn left). Remove the old and install the new filter (turn it to the right to lock it in place). Re-install the cover and drain 2 gallons to flush the system.

Here's what the maker says: (look about 1/4 down the page until you see "Changing your LG REFRIGERATOR's Water Filter" and follow the steps. http://www.lg.com/us/support/answers/refrigerators/scheduled-maintenance
The filter number is 5231JA2006. Costs about $50 (check eBay or Amazon). Or here at LG http://www.lg.com/us/appliance-accessories/lg-LT600P-water-filter
Hope this helps...

Where is the water filter

Is this a used refrig? If new then you should have a brand new filter. For my LG side-by-side the filter is in the top right corner on the frig side. 1/4 twist and it pulls out. But they are $$$$, I found a 3 pack online cheaper than local
