My sony cyber shot lens will not go back in it sounds like it is trying to do do and their is a light flashing.

There is probably a bit of grit or something similar caught in the lens control. Service or repair, I'm afraid.

SOURCE: problem with sony dsc-w30 cyber shot flash

I found this solution in Yahoo Answers. go into the Setup Menu and find "Initialize". Select Initialize to reset the camera adjustments. Then try using the camera again.

try gently pulling and twisting the end of the lense and i mean gentle dont pull till it pops than switch it off and on again and you problem should be solved

You have a bad lens, it prob. also says turn off and on again.

It sounds like something has gotten into the "gears" of the lens. It can be something very small like a grain of sand. or something could have jarred the camera and caused the lens to come off of the track and now the lens wont retract. It can be pricey to fix and usually not worth it.

Seems like you have the AF Illuminator set to on in the SET UP. This lights up every time the camera thinks it is not light enough, gives more brightness to the picture!

Extra lights with sony cyber shots

any camera that has a flash, can trigger a "slave" flash. I have one that came with a little bracket that hooks into the tripod mount point. Work great, it also came with a little tripod so that you could use it for backlighting, etc.
