Yes you can..just put it on bridge mode
Ok this is so simple.
first off the router has ethernet,
and you can run 10 Access points or more in home..
off that 1 port. (router to AP1, then to AP2, and to AP3
all wired, then each with its own SSID. that is how I do it
and gains max range doing so.
if you like magic, get a MESH AP. (but is expensive)
and point 2, all AP even modem wifi or router wifi can be turned off easy, the manual is free to read, and the box to check is called
disable. wifi. for sure.
if you cant tune off wifi in the ISP modem and they will not help you then just leave it alone, ignore it
and setup an AP with its own SSID.
even use different channels, too. for sure.
SOURCE: Switched to cable(arris modem) can't set up network
cable dsl same thing. Did you switch providers and get new modem from them? If so. Just delete previous netowrk and install new one let pc discover new one. Also, with your router you got a disc. It should install correctly. Perhaps it is previous network that is hindering you.
SOURCE: ARRIS Modem + D-Link router = no internet
when you are on Cable Internet with a "modem" only connected directly to the computer, what the ISP see is the computer's MAC Address (command prompt -> type ipconfig and hit enter).
put a router (which has it's own MAC Address) in-between and the ISP wont let you cause it sees the router not the computer.
check physical connection: cable modem -> router -> computer(hard wire for this troubleshooting)
access the d-link gui and locate the “Clone MAC Address" button (supposed to clone the computers MAC Address - verify if it's the same), save settings & reboot the router.
SOURCE: i have an arris tm602gct and cannot connect thru my netgear
Can you connect if you are directly wired into the router?
You may want to try using a ball point pen and pressing the reset button on the back of the arris. Let it reboot and try again.
Some netgear routers come with the wireless disabled out of the box, so you need to be hard wired when you run the CD or if you try to connect through your browser 192.168.1.1
SOURCE: Arris Modem won't work with Airport Express
Not sure how helpful this will be, as I'm running a different piece of gear, plus it requires both troubleshooting + ISP assistance. I had a similar problem with my AirPort Extreme: AirPort Extreme saw the Arris, iBook saw the AirPort Extreme, but no internet connectivity.
As I was doing this, I had my ISP on the phone that confirmed complete connectivity of the signal path and ensured that I was online. While the Arris was powered down, my ISP also sent a "message" to the Arris; I don't know if this was a software update or what. I completed the AirPort set-uo through the Utility application, the AirPort restarted, and I was online.
Hope this helps.
