I have my own wifi, ASUS RTAC-3200. The wifi in the AT&T modem, Arris BGW210-700 doesn't do well enough to support all of my devices. Can I turn off off the router on their modem and use my own?

Ok this is so simple.
first off the router has ethernet,
and you can run 10 Access points or more in home..
off that 1 port. (router to AP1, then to AP2, and to AP3
all wired, then each with its own SSID. that is how I do it
and gains max range doing so.
if you like magic, get a MESH AP. (but is expensive)

and point 2, all AP even modem wifi or router wifi can be turned off easy, the manual is free to read, and the box to check is called

disable. wifi. for sure.

if you cant tune off wifi in the ISP modem and they will not help you then just leave it alone, ignore it
and setup an AP with its own SSID.
even use different channels, too. for sure.

SOURCE: Switched to cable(arris modem) can't set up network

cable dsl same thing. Did you switch providers and get new modem from them? If so. Just delete previous netowrk and install new one let pc discover new one. Also, with your router you got a disc. It should install correctly. Perhaps it is previous network that is hindering you.

SOURCE: ARRIS Modem + D-Link router = no internet

when you are on Cable Internet with a "modem" only connected directly to the computer, what the ISP see is the computer's MAC Address (command prompt -> type ipconfig and hit enter).

put a router (which has it's own MAC Address) in-between and the ISP wont let you cause it sees the router not the computer.

check physical connection: cable modem -> router -> computer(hard wire for this troubleshooting)

access the d-link gui and locate the “Clone MAC Address" button (supposed to clone the computers MAC Address - verify if it's the same), save settings & reboot the router.

SOURCE: i have an arris tm602gct and cannot connect thru my netgear

Can you connect if you are directly wired into the router?

You may want to try using a ball point pen and pressing the reset button on the back of the arris. Let it reboot and try again.

Some netgear routers come with the wireless disabled out of the box, so you need to be hard wired when you run the CD or if you try to connect through your browser 192.168.1.1

SOURCE: Arris Modem won't work with Airport Express

Not sure how helpful this will be, as I'm running a different piece of gear, plus it requires both troubleshooting + ISP assistance.  I had a similar problem with my AirPort Extreme: AirPort Extreme saw the Arris, iBook saw the AirPort Extreme, but no internet connectivity.

  1. In my case, I needed to set the AirPort to DHCP in the AirPort Utility application.
  2. Power down the AirPort Extreme
  3. Power down the Arris. You achieve this by unplugging the Arris *and* removing the back-up battery.
  4. Wait a few moments.
  5. Insert the battery into the Arris.
  6. Plug in the Arris power supply.
  7. Wait for the Arris to go through the restart protocol; when all the lights on the front panel are solid green, the start-up is complete.
  8. Power up the AirPort Extreme; wait for the front panel light to go solid green.
As I was doing this, I had my ISP on the phone that confirmed complete connectivity of the signal path and ensured that I was online.  While the Arris was powered down, my ISP also sent a "message" to the Arris; I don't know if this was a software update or what.  I completed the AirPort set-uo through the Utility application, the AirPort restarted, and I was online.
Hope this helps.

We have just gotten a Google Wifi. How do I disconnect my Arris network?

- Your Arris cable modem/router should be setup in bridge mode from the Arris admin screen.
- Your Arris cable modem should have wifi turned off otherwise you'll have 4 wifi networks in your home.
- Your google wifi plugs into (via cable) the back of your Arris using one of the 4 LAN jacks. The google uses the incoming signal from the Arris to create your wifi signal.
- Install the google wifi app on your phone.
- Place your google devices around your home.
- Connect to your first google device and get it connected to your Arris, setup the wifi (SSID) name and password.
- Then connect your devices to the new network name.
Good luck! Here is a link with video of the instructions - https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/7183148?hl=en

Find network key on sb6141

The term "Network Key or Passphrase" indicates your printer is asking for a WiFi password, but the SB6141 is not a WiFi capable device at all, it's just a Cable-to-Ethernet device. So then, you need to look at your WiFi router, which should be connected with an Ethernet cable to your SB6141. If this doesn't match your setup, you'll either need to get a WiFi router hooked up (that process will contain the answer to your question) or simply use an Ethernet cable for your printer.

I HAVE AN ARRIS TG862 & I CAN GET THE INTERNET THROUGH LAN BUT NOT WIFI HOW DO I GET WIFI TO WORK ON THIS PRODUCT? I HAD A TECH. FROM MY SERVICE PROVIDER AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT ARRIS

This is a product that will support WiFI. Here is a description of it:
Touchstone; TG862A/NA Wireless eMTA;
DOCSIS 3.0, 802.11n, 2.4GHz, 4 Gigabit
Ethernet, 115-240VAC, 50/60 Hz North American Power cord,
If tech from service company could not activate service, I assume he feels something is wrong with the modem itself. Are you connecting over frequency 802.11n to the modem, perhaps it is not seeing the wireless frequency?
