SOURCE: Dyson DC07 Original won't pick up at base

Hi,

Lie machine on its side pull back handle as if vacuuming & switch on (KEEP YOUR FINGERS & ANY LOOSE CLOTHING CLEAR OF BRUSH ROLLER)

Brush should spin if it doesnt ensure clutch control knob on side of machine is in drive position if it isnt rotate knob by hand to drive brush should now spin.

If it doesnt & your machine has A clutch either clutch will need replacing or belts will need replacing.

Manuals are available to replace belts & remove the clutch from this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/index.htm

SOURCE: vacuum not picking up

At the top of your wand, do you have a plastic swivel that cover a hole in the wand? This is for when you are cleaning curtains, and if that is open, or cracked you will loose suction there... also check your hose for cracks, or breaks. If it were in the shop I would put a gauge on it... normal suction is about 80-95 inches of water lift at the end of the hose. Once you have check each section of the hose, and wand, check the housing for cracks, a missing gasket (Very Good Reason For Lack Of Suction) As to your Filter, how long have you used that one filter, you can clean them for a while, but once a paper filter gets full of FINE dust you won't get it all out, you will have to replace the filter itself at that point. I hope this was helpful.

SOURCE: agitator turns but the vacuum doesn't pick up that well

ok it sounds like the vacuum line that goes to your brush is clogged partially. need to remove soem screws and get to it from the underneath. or try blowing through the line with compressed air or blower side of a vacuum. its usaully the smal flat veins that clogg right before it goes up into the tube that you connect to.

SOURCE: I have full suction with the hose and when the

So I have exactly the opposite problem, it sucks in floor mode but the hand held has zero suction. My daughter and i just spent the last hour disassembling and diagnosing and found this: The way the suction tube is configured, you have two places to **** from, the floor and the hand held hose. If you look at the back of the machine, you can see the "y" where the two hoses join. just behind the beater bar there is a blast gate that closes when you stand the machine upright. This closes the blast gate and directs full sution to the hand hose. In floor mode as the handle tips back, a follower wheel and spring move the blast gate to open. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART...if the hose is not docked, there is a second place for the suction to go and you will get no suction at the floor. In my case, the center post where the spring mounts is broken and the blast gate flap does not close, so the hand hose gets no suction because it is like a straw with a hole in it, the air will seek the least resistance. In your case you either have not returned the hose to the docking port or your blast gate is stuck in the closed position. To check this remove the two screws and clamp that secure the lower hose to the suction manifold. Pull the hose stright an look inside to see if the blast gate is open or closed. Use the release pedal to cycle the machine between upright and floor mode and you should see the blast gate open and close. If you don't, well that's a whole other story. I'm off to see if I can find a replacement part at repairclinic.com. If not I will have to get some polyester epoxy and fix it myself.

My fantom thunder vacuum runs great but isn't picking up wand has no suction

It could be one or more problems. The filter is likely clogged. It should be replaced at least once per year if you can find one. Clogged filters greatly reduce airflow which will cause dirt and debris to build up in other areas of the vacuum eventually causing it to have no suction. If you get the suction working make sure to install a new belt if using it on carpeted floors.

Riccar vacuum 8625 vacuums the floors;but does not seem to have suction for the carpets

The belt may look fine but could have lost elasticity. Stretch belts will lose elasticity and should be replaced at least once or twice per year. If the brush strips are worn or frayed it will not pick up properly.

Loss of suction

If it is not picking up from floor replace the belt. They need replaced at least twice per year because they lose elasticity and will slip when vacuuming floor. If it is loss of suction start by replacing filters. All filters should be replaced at least once per year on most vacuums

Air filter:
If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up dirt and has no suction the air filter might be clogged. Remove the filter and either clean or replace it as needed.
Exhaust Filter If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the exhaust filter might be clogged. Remove and clean the filter, replace it if its torn or damaged.

Vacuum Hose If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum hose might be clogged. Remove the hose from the vacuum cleaner, stretch it out straight, shine a bright flashlight in one end and try to see light through it. If no light can be seen, use something to run through the hose and free up the obstruction.
Vacuum Bag If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum bag might be full. Clean or replace the bag as recommended by the manufacturer.

Dust Cup AssemblyIf the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the dust cup assembly might not be installed tightly, or it might be cracked or broken. The dust cup must seal tightly in order to produce the right amount of suction. If it is cracked or broken, replace it. Most glues and adhesives will not successfully seal the crack.
Blower Wheel If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and there is no suction, the blower wheel might be jammed or broken. Check the blower wheel to be certain it turns freely. If it doesn't, check to see if there is anything rubbing against it. If not, but it's hard to turn, the motor is most likely the problem.

Bag was not on good, resulted in dust, dirt, dog hair everywhere...have cleaned pretty thoroughly but vacuum does not have any suction. After taking apart did find that the larger wide belt is broke but I...

Greetings from GoVacuum,

There are two things that you should check on this vacuum after running it without a bag inside. The first thing you should check is the filter that is underneath of the vacuum bag. This filter is underneath of a bracket, and the bracket can be removed by pulling straight up on the bracket. The bracket and filter are directly below the vacuum bag inside the vacuum bag housing. If the machine was run without a bag (or the bag fell off) then this filter is most likely going to be extremely clogged. You can simly remove the filter, and run it under hot water until clean. Make sure the filter is 100% completely dry before putting it back in the vacuum and using it. Running the vacuum with a wet filter will destroy your motor.

Now in terms of the belts. Where as the belts don't directly control the suction of the vacuum cleaner, they certainly facilitate the pick up of dirt and debris on the floor. Many people assume that since the vacuum is not picking up from the floor, then the vacuum doesn't have suction. You can test this by pulling out the attachment hose and feeling for suction, is there suction at the end of the hose? If yes, then the reason the vacuum is not picking up on the floor is because of the belts. If you don't have suction at the end of the hose, then you have a clog, some where or a dirty filter.

The belts actually are what spin the brush, and the brush basically sweeps the carpet, and throws the dirt and debris into the suction port, and when the dirt and debris are near the suction port, the suction then takes over and takes it to the bag.

There are two belts on this model, it's best to replace both of these belts at the same time. If you replace just one, then the other belt will wear out quicker. It's always best to replace these two belts in conjunction.

The two belts that are used on this vacuum are:

Hoover Windtunnel V-Belt Part 38528034

Hoover Windtunnel Flat Belt, Hoover Part 38528035

Once you have the belts, and you're ready to replace them, here's a great video that we shot here at Govacuum.com that shows you exactly how to replace these belts, as well as some basic maintenance on your roller brush;

Vacume cleaner

Check the hose and see if it has a clog, also the hose at the bottom. The filters may be clogged, make sure they are clean and that air flows thru them, if not then replace them.
