Oven starts to heat up no problem until certain temp (approx 100 degrees) where the timer suddenly flashes zero and oven stops. Clock never resets but after about 5 minutes you can go through the whole process again.
Cheers Bob from Li, I have now conducted more research and the point at which the oven cuts out is right at the point the temperature is reached ie. set control to 150 degrees and that's where the whole thing shuts down (including the clock).
The seccondary oven remains unaffected but is unfortunately not of a size to accomodate the turkey we have ordered for Xmas.
Thanks once again for your input, I would value further advice.Cheers Bob from Li, I have now conducted more research and the point at which the oven cuts out is right at the point the temperature is reached ie. set control to 150 degrees and that's where the whole thing shuts down (including the clock).

Thanks again Bob from Li. I'm affraid I must have tried the circuit breaker about half a dozen times, once for upwards of half an hour but still no change.
Will Smeg be the best place to go for support or will I be better involving a local domestic appliance repair service ?
Thanks once again for all your help,

Bob from Li, rolled my sleeves up on Friday night, stripped the thing down and bingo !
I followed the cable from the red indicator light to the back of the stove and found a melted connector box.
The box joined 8 cables and once I'd re-connected them the oven was as good as new. The shorting cable was clearly initiating some kind of safety cut out which is good to know but also means that turkey is firmly back on the Christmas day menu.
Can't thank you enough for the help you've offered which is why I've tagged the problem FixYa.
Much obliged Bob

Hello, I can't find both sides of he discussion here but, my A2 has lost power on the main oven, except for the fan. YOu mentoned a breaker, is to be seen after removing ghe back panel? I got the top open but need wireing diagram to see where the power is and isn't. I have not been able to fine wireing diagram. Hi there, my A2 main oven has stopped working aswell (no grill, light, heat or fan). Reading through several posts I have yet to find a solution as the clock has also died. The part that puzzels me is that both the thermostat and function switch lights are illuminated with the 'no function' selected. If you rotate the thermostat knob it stays illuminated but as soon as you rotate the function knob both lights go out. I have tried several resets with no joy and had the front off to have a look at the clock, but without a wiring diagram im lost.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Okay. Madant!! Did you do that full reset? The mains breakers are generally rated at least 40 amperes. Shut down for at least a minute. If that doesn't do it, I'll have to say you have a problem with the thermostat board. Very strange.Okay. Madant!! Did you do that full reset? Madant, I'm in the US so I don't know who is best to support you. There is certainly someone near you who advertises that they know the product. You are basically saying it cannot correctly read the temperature and does not heat the oven any more?
I am thinking this sounds far more like the thermostat that has failed as it reads the temperature, and also regulates the heater on/off depending on what setting you have selected. Easily replaced but will almost certainly require removing the oven from the cabinet (why won't it come out? Usually there are 2 or 3 screws vertically up each side viewable when oven door is open; remove them and slide the whole oven forward).
Good luck

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.
Buy a oven thermometer to put inside the oven to check the accuracy of your oven temp setting. If the oven temp is not too far off from what your oven thermometer is reading, you can recalibrate the oven knob. Pull the knob off and look at the back. You can adjust the degrees approx +or - 20 degrees. If the temp is all over the place or just not heating up enough, then it's time to replace the oven thermostat, assuming the oven isn't too old or not worth fixing. Douglas
HI. this is a basic temp sensor issue. the oven control is programmed to cease operations if it dose not receive any resistance signals for the temp sensor during high heat situations.
Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control.
Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.
I had the same problem with my magic cheff oven. I had to set the temp at 400 - 500 degrees to get to get an actual oven temp of about 250 degrees. The oven temp sensor checked ok with an ohm meter. Should be around 1100 ohms at room temp. I work in the electronics industry and know capacitors go out of range and dry out with heat and over time so I replaced the 3 or 4 electrolitic capacitors on the timer board. Cost me about $6.00 at Radio Shack and now my oven temp is right on the money. I realize not everyone may want to do this but it worked for me. Better than the $200.00 for a new oven timer control board. I have also found a company's website that fixes these boards for about $89.00 ApplianceTimers.com
There will be a current switching relay to the oven - which is faulty - hence why you get the error when it realises it's not working.
This should be replaced to solve future problems.
For your reference, the fault codes are -
F0 Touch pad stuck in depressed position F1 Element relay circuit failure F2 Oven temp exceeded the clean runaway temp (self clean) -or- runaway temp (cooking modes) F3 Short circu!t in oven temp sensor F4 Open circuit in oven temp sensor F5 - N/A F6 Failure in the EEPROM check comparison (only time of day and timer will operate) F7 Failure of Sef-C1ean auto door latch circuit. F8 Failure of the door latch motor. Occurs when the motor runs for two minutes without the door locking Self-Clean mode.
If this resolves the issue, Please rate accordingly. Thank you.
