My oven makes a huge whirring buzzing noise after 20/30 minutes of use. I replaced the cooling fan motor but that has not helped. Surely this is not normal?
It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your SMEG DS96MFA7 oven where a noise occurs after some time of operation and continues even after the oven is turned off. Since you've already replaced the cooling fan and the noise persists, there are a few possibilities to consider:
- Heating Element: The heating element in your oven might be expanding and contracting as it heats up and cools down during operation. This can sometimes create noises, especially if the element has developed some internal damage.
- Cooling Fan Motor: While you've replaced the cooling fan, it's possible that the noise is coming from a different part of the fan assembly or from the fan motor itself. The noise might be due to vibrations, a misaligned part, or a problem with the motor bearings.
- Exhaust Fan or Circulation Fan: Some ovens have additional fans for exhaust or circulation purposes. If your oven has these fans, they might be causing the noise. Check if there are any additional fans present and inspect them for any issues.
- Expansion and Contraction: As the oven heats up during use and then cools down after being turned off, various components inside the oven can expand and contract. This can sometimes result in creaking or popping noises. This could include metal components, panels, or other parts.
- Loose or Vibrating Components: Check for any loose or vibrating components within the oven. Even a small loose panel or part can generate a significant amount of noise, especially as it vibrates against other surfaces.
- Gas Ignition System: If your oven uses gas, the ignition system could be causing clicking or ticking noises as it ignites and heats up.
- Electrical Components: Certain electrical components, such as relays or transformers, could also be causing the noise if they are malfunctioning or vibrating excessively.
Since diagnosing the exact source of the noise can be challenging, especially without being able to inspect the oven in person, I recommend the following steps:
- Carefully Inspect: When the noise occurs, try to pinpoint its source by listening closely and observing the oven's components. This might give you a better idea of where the noise is coming from.
- Contact Professional Help: If the noise persists and is affecting the functionality of the oven, it's advisable to contact a professional appliance repair technician. They have the expertise and tools to diagnose and fix the issue accurately.

Good Morning, I have a Smeg SUK91MFX and the fan oven does not heat up.
Hello Ron,
If you have already replaced the thermostat unit and both heating elements, and the indicator light is coming on and the fans are running, but the oven is still not heating up, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you could try:
- Check the wiring connections: Ensure that all wiring connections are secure and properly connected. Loose or faulty connections can prevent the oven from heating up.
- Check the oven control board: The control board regulates the power to the oven elements. If it is faulty, it may prevent the elements from heating up. You can test the control board using a multimeter or by having it professionally checked and repaired or replaced.
- Check the thermal fuse: Some ovens have a thermal fuse that protects the oven from overheating. If the thermal fuse has blown, it can prevent the oven from heating up. You can test the thermal fuse with a multimeter and replace it if necessary.
- Check the temperature sensor: The temperature sensor is responsible for monitoring the temperature inside the oven. If it is faulty, it may prevent the oven from heating up. You can test the temperature sensor with a multimeter and replace it if necessary.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, it may be best to contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer for further assistance.

The clock not working
We have a SMEG TRA 90P9 which has a dedicated circuit with a RCD swich. It will randomly trip with nothing on except the clock. Flick the RCD back on and it might stay on for a day or two. Begining to suspect the cooker. Any coments would be appreciated..
Smeg SA9065XS - Oven Display No Longer Working
Hello Andrew from another one :>D
It sounds like you had a mains voltage issue whilst you were away.
Disconnecting from the mains for 5 minutes will reset it. If that doesn't fix it, it's a Smeg, you will need a Service Call and probably a new control board.
