Chimei cmv933a no power

Do you see anyting on the screen when you shine a flashlight on it? It could be the inverters or the power supply. They can fail without any outward signs of something being wrong. Check the capacitors for bulges and leaks.

My LG Flatron 1710S computer screen doesn't have any power. Sometimes the power light will start flashing but most of the time it stays blank.

This is a common issue, the power supplies in LCD monitors fail prematurely. (if your monitor has an internal power supply) , Double check all your power connections, but it sounds like the internal supply is toast, (its a simple capacitor replacement to fix, but cost to do this job seems to always outweigh a new monitor purchase) sorry to be the bearer of bad news.If you find my answer helpful albeit poor news, please use the thumbs up feedback.

More likely to be problem in the power supply.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I will assume that you already try this monitor and new VGA cable with other PC with the same result, just want to narrow down the problem before opening the case.

You may have failing components in the power supply.

My samsung 940N acts like a florescent tube, tries to start and doesn't

Use the self test feature.. follow the steps..

1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor.
2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer.
3. Turn on the monitor.
If the monitor is functioning properly, you will see a box in the illustration below.
This box appears during normal operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or
damaged.
4. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the
monitor.
If your monitor screen remains blank after using the previous procedure, check your video
controller and computer system; your monitor is functioning properly.

Warning

The Power supply inside the monitor can be hazardous and donot open the monitor while power on.

Donot work with the monitor when it is open and the power supply is on.

If there is something wrong with the input signal, a message appears on the screen or the
screen goes blank although the power indicator LED is still on. The message may indicate
that the monitor is out of scan range or that you need to check the signal cable.
