I suggest trying to adjust the pressure switch, however, it is more likely that the pressure switch is bad and will need replaced. These can be purchased at most hardware stores or www.mcmaster.com. After you install it, you will need to readjust it to the pressure it was originally set to so as to not overpressurize the tank. Overpressure is very dangerous so do not use the compressor until it is repaired.

hi mate this problem may be more than 1 1st it could be the piston rings gone and the air is leaking into the crank and has blown the crank seal but you can tell that if oil is coming out the rear off the pump unit also it could be the breather blocked which allows air in and out the breather is the oil filler cap. good luck

that (more than likely) is the starter, but it also may have hit a bad commutator bar... turn off power, turn flywheel 1/8 (or so) of a turn, turn on power.
if it starts, purchase new motor because the commutator/brushes are dirty or shorted.
if it doesn't, replace the starter relay.
