I would appreciate info on my Bosch KGU3201GB/01 Fridge Freezer, which has the common fridge not cooling problem, but is an unusual configuration. Details below.

Ok, I have the common problem with Fridge freezers, the fridge is not cooling but the freezer is fine. I have a Bosch KGU3201GB/01 and this problem started yesterday. I have checked that the fan runs and took of the cover at the back of the freezer to find virtually no frosting. I defrosted it and left overnight with temperature monitors in both compartments. The fridge monitor went down to 3C in about 2.5 hours but then slowly warmed up again, reaching +8C this morning. The freezer monitor reached -12C after 2.5 hours and then continued to cool to -18C. I understand the principles of frost-free coolers but I'm puzzled by the details here and would appreciate some insights. Firstly, how does the fan blow cold air into the fridge compartment? Is there a duct up the back that I can't see without taking out the fan? What are the two cage-like structures on the left-hand side of both compartments? Do they house sensors? If so how do you access them? Any thoughts on the problem? One more question, where is the damper control? Re the answers to date, see the extra info, I have checked the fan and defrosted already. Further update: I just noticed that the fridge compartment is now at 2C. This model doesn't have any obvious air channels inside, so I checked with a thermal imaging camera and the whole back wall is at 2C, so the air circulation duct must be inside the back wall?? Further update. Ahh, this model doesn't have air ducts, there is a separate cooling line from the condenser running into the back wall of the fridge compartment. I managed to get a flow there by toggling to Super and then back to Eco. The thermal imaging camera shows the back wall cooling to -24C. Unfortunately, I don't think this will last. Does anyone have experience of this model, to suggest what's wrong??

Typically that'd be where they are..you should see the openings in the back of the freezer and the fridge...barring any obstructions sounds like a computer board issue

Testimonial: "See my updates. This model doesn't have air ducts, but a separate line from the condenser to cool the fridge!"

SOURCE: Frost Free, freezer ok but fridge warm

If all else fails I would completely defrosted the unit.If there is any blockage this will open up all the tubes.Unplug it open the doors put pans of hot water in the freezer to speed up the process.
Make sure your fan is still working ,its located behind the freezers back wall. If it is working the vent from the freezer down to the refridgerater may be blocked. With out a fan you have no circulation but your freezer may look likes its working,it may last 3 days. Also if you can move everything out unplug it turn it off w/ doors open 12 to 24 hrs this will free up any clogged tubes. Good luck.

SOURCE: Hi, We have Bosch fridge Freezer

Do you have a reset button for you freezer for you to eliminate the red triangle. Or you may want to unplug the power cable to the power source first at least 15 seconds.

Bosch kann58a50gb/o8 fridge not cooling freezer seems ok

See or hear if the fan inside is working. Im not conversant with your model. Some units have 2 fans , 1 in the freezer and 1 in the fridge. Some only have1 , which will be in the freezer only. If the fan fails, the fridge cannot blow cold air into the food compartment. Generally, when an evaporator fan fails, the fridge doesn't get cold and the freezer overfreezes causing an excess ice buildup in the freezer.

From your description, it sounds like your condensing coil is dirty and needs cleaning. You will probably find the coil and fan inside the back cardboard cover area. Once a condensing coil gets so dirty, the refrigerant condensed in the condenser is so hot that it does little cooling effect because of the internal heat consumes any refrigeration effect left in the refrigerant. This is vary common problem and especially for pet owner. The pet fur and hair get caught in condensing coil and block air flow.
Hope this helps

Hi Robert, sounds like the unit is not defrosting.

Try this to indicate defost issues.
1. relocate food in the freezer, turn the unit off for 2 days and leave the door open, this will allow total defrost.
2. clean, then restart unit with door closed, after and every 2 hours check temp, I feel you may find it will get to its operating temp reasonably fast and should stay there.

If this is the case, I suspect the defrost heater element has failed and needs replacing, this is the most common cause of your type of issue.

Hope that helps and please dont forget to vote. Regards Russ

Bosch Fridge Freezer: Fridge Not Cooling

Your refrigerator's cool is provided by your freezer section through a damper - there should not be excessive frost on the cooling coils - the most common problem is a defrost timer - are you absolutely sure the noise you hear is the defrost this is the first thing to check, defrost control and its components, is it properly shutting off or stuck on during operation - the next thing to check is for possible sealed system problems / small leaks, door gasket seals, etc.

The fact that it started to work once you manually defrosted is the key here - an over forsted evap will cause the problems you describe most commonly - so have your defrost system checked completly and properly - that should solve the problem. followed by checking door gaskets, damper and sealed system - if only part of the coils are frosted as opposed to the entire surface, that usually a clue to sealed system leak - yes 10C is quite warm for a refrigerator. It should be between 34F-40F, optimal is 34F. And freezer section no warmer than 10F, optimal at 0F (-18C)

Bosch fridge not cooling freezer fine

if back wall of freezer has ice or thick build up you may have a defrost problem or if not the evaporator fan motor could be bad, not moving cold air from freezer to refrigerator.
