SOURCE: john deere model 14sb lawn mower repair

Check for bad bearing in clutch immediately, Remove belt, try and turn the clutch pulley if it is hard to turn or feels rough, replace the bearing in the clutch. If you do not replace bearing immediately you will be buying a $300.00 clutch very soon. I know from experience. You possibly have been hearing a loud unusual roar from engine area for awhile and wondered where it was coming from. As these bearing will usually squall a cry for awhile before they die.

SOURCE: how do we service the blade / brake clutch

No serviceable parts, you can only buy complete clutch. To replace you remove blade and blade adapter.Use a very large vise-grip to remove spring and then you can remove bolt holding clutch arm.Disconnect cable from top side of machine.Remove engine mounting bolts, have another person pull engine away from frame while you slide clutch off.Going back together you may have a tuff time getting large spring back on hook under deck.I've been working on these for some time and have yet found an easy way to get large spring back on.

I need a diagram showing how to route a mower deck belt on a John Deere model 240 mower deck. My spring has fallen off and I need to know where it goes to put the tension on the belt.

Here's a link to an online John Deere parts store. When you land on the page, look at the top sub categories for the size of deck your mower has. You should be able to access a parts diagram with pictures of your belt's proper placement.

WHERE IS THE CLUTCH AJUSTMENT ON A JOHN DEERE LAWN TRACTOR STX38 MOD NO B119488

well there isn't much of one , most times I get one of these that the clutch slips ,it's time for a new belt , if you follow the clutch pedal (with mower deck removed) to under the tractor , there your gonna see a spring there , that's all that keeps tension to belt , that's why I just change the belt

My john deere 14sb mower starts but kills when I engage the blade

Check your safety seat switch. Unplug the wiring harness to the switch and place a paper clip into the harness. This will bypass the switch unless you have a continuity tester to test the switch.

I have a John Deere LA150 that will not go steep

I have the same problem same year, same model. I changed the drive belt and it still won't go up steep hills that it used to easily climb. I don't see any way to adjust tension and it doesn't cover that in the operator's manual. What did you find out with yours?
