SOURCE: Pioneer PD4500 Single-Compact Disc Player 1.

Hi norberty

When you load a disk, do you hear a faint screaching sound, or the disc turn a tiny bit, but wont sart to spin? If that is what happens, then the spindle motor is lazy. You will need to replace it. Sometimes, you can get the motor to work again, by squirting some crc2-26 lubricant spray into the motor(through the bottom) Be careful not to use too much. Try this, if it doesnt sort it out, let me know here before you rate the solution, We can go further

Hello, my Pioneer cd/dvdrw K17 B does keeps not working. I insert a disk. It sounds like it is going to load, but then it give me a message where it says "insert disc"

Probably its the lens problem, clean the lens or you need to higher the intensity of the laser by slightly rotating a preset that is attached to the lens module below the lens, I have repaired almost 80% of the creative cd drives by this method

My Pioneer PD-TM1 18 Disc player reads through all three disc magazines searching on each individual CD disc one at a time, and then will not play any one of the disc?

Seen alot of these "drop" the laser lens inside the unit! Have had some luck glueing the lens back on using radio/tv cement. Don't try super glue or it will ruin the lens! No luck replace the laser!

pioneer cd players have the common problem of losing their laser lens due to the glue that holds it in place going brittle over time. try shaking the player from side to side and upside down to see if you can hear the lens rattling about. if you recover the lens, very carefully slot it back in place and apply a tiny drop of glue (NOT SUPERGLUE) to the outside edge of the lens taking care not to get any on the focus area and leave to dry. all should be well after this. i find UHU GLUE in the yellow tubes do a lasting fix but don't use SUPERGLUE as the fumes will coat the lens.

hope this helps?

Pd-m403 cd player skips thru all six cds (they are oriented correctly) without playing any selection, then get a message "no disc"

Hi there

Sure you can.for 12 years I was a prefferred service agent for Pioneer. I have repaired dozens of these units with this problem. It has been happening since they came up with the six disc changer mech. The Pioneer preferred way is to replace the optic, set the diffraction grating(not an easy task without the right gear) and mechanical alignment of the new optics. DO NOT USE CYNOACRYLATE BASED GLUES This is super glue. the fumes will cloud the lens and render it useless, I use Tarzan's Grip, a clear general purpose repair glue, used for say china, metal plastic etc.
  • I always make sure that the lens in orientated the same way as it came out. You can usually tell by the glue marks on the sides of the lens and the holder it seats into.
  • Refit the lens, then dab the sides of it and the holder, don't get too carried away.
  • I use at least 3-4 dabs about the sides of the lens, but don't put it under the lens before you seat it .
  • I then put something on top of it for at least 12 hours till the glue sets. then hopefully if all went as planned, it should again work.
I used to always check focal offset and tracking offsets, and tweak also the RF pattern to refocus the repaired assembly. You do need test gear to do that, but generally, the player will work if the lens is seated correctly and secured properly. Happy to talk to you more about my experience doing this job,or answer any questions about it.
