I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 and it has been acting up for about 1 month. Symptoms are LCD goes blank and camera freezing up with shutter out, LCD pixilating and camera freezing up with shutter out, Solid green light on back of camera near the dial each time it happens and I have to remove the battery for a few minutes and then replace it a few times for the shutter to close (camera will still not take pictures for a few minutes after that even). Now the camera is completely dead and will not work. Hubby thinks it is a hard drive problem. Can this be fixed or do I need to start looking for a new camera? p.s. the battery is fully charged and put in correctly. I have even tried alternate batteries and still acts up and now does not work.

*&%$@#%^&*&^% !!"It's working!!!! Turn your camera on and put it near your ear. Did you hear a softly motorized sound in the lenses area and the green LED is flashing? If you hear this sound do this. Do it under your own responsability. (any way your camera does not work). When you turn on the camera wait until the lenses come out, in that moment grab the lens with your hand and don't let it go back. The camera will turn off but the lens will stay out. With the camera off push in the lens with your hand. Turn on the camera and that's it. I had to do it 2 times, but now my camera it's working again. This system error could be caused because the lens get out of it rail and the camera can not set the focus system.

I would suggest that the image stabilizer might not be working right. Could you upload a photo to Flickr or other location where I could look at the EXIF, or list it here. I would like to see what the camera is writing to the image as the settings when the photo was taken.
Does it make a difference when the image stabilizer is on or off?

First Bob, I believe there is a menu setting that allows you to disable picture/movie deletes as long as it is enabled. Check this out regarding "this picture cannot be deleted" problem.
Second, assuming your screen is ok since you can read a message from it, I would try FORMATing your memory card, after downloading your pics/movs to your computer from the camera. Note to view MOVies from your camera on your computer, Windows Media Player will not play them. You must download Apple's QuickTime Movie Viewer to view .mov file format from panasonic cameras, or use a view that came with the camera on CD.
