SOURCE: The newly purchased deck belt turning the blades is extremely loose

If idler is in tact and spring attached, it is likely that the belt isn't routed properly. If you try to route the rear-most portion of the belt around the idler, it will be loose. You must route the front-most portion of the belt around the center blade pully and then around the idler. Just Google "MTD 46 inch deck diagram" and you will go to a Parts Tree site with the proper diagram showing routing.

Can you show me the correct diagram for the drive belt on a 44in Dixon zero turn mower

Hope this helps. Serpentine Blade Drive Belt
1 Lower the mower deck to its lowest position.
2 Route the serpentine blade drive belt (part number 6109) onto the V-pulleys located on the mower deck. One double pulley is located at the front of the deck near the center. The other two pulleys are located near each side of the deck. Route the belt around the outside -- the side toward the outer edge of the mower deck -- of each pulley. For the double pulley near the front of the deck, route the belt around the lower pulley (part number 6058) only. If pulleys are fitted with belt guards, work the belt in between the pulley and shield.
3 Push the idler pulley toward the center of the deck with your hand. The idler pulley (part number 6059) is the fourth pulley on the deck and is located near the rear of the deck. It is the only movable pulley on the deck. Wrap the belt around the side of the pulley nearest the edge of the deck. Release the idler pulley to place tension on the belt. No adjustment is necessary because the serpentine idler spring (part number 6065), located on the idler pulley, adjusts the belt to the correct tension.

YT4000 blades not turning

I am wondering if you have the right belt for that machine. or possible its not installed properly. The belt should be tight when engaged. The tightener may not be working as well. These are things to check. Does the belt try to tighten up when you engage it?
I am wondering if the wrong belt was the reason why some one lowered the deck too low.

Why is it that my riding Lawnmower doesn't cut when I lower the deck to cut the grass lower

Tighten or replace drive belt. Before you do that though, with the deck raised right up and engine switched off reach underneath deck and grab hold of blades and try to move them up and down. Make sure there is no build up of debris between pulleys and guards. Remove the belt off pulleys if you can. Turn blades and check they are free to turn. What you are doing here is checking the blade spindle bearings for wear or damage. If they have excessive movement or feel rough and/or tight replace them. If they are good and the belt looks in good order, tighten belt That is done by adjusting the deck rods so the deck moves back. You tube have some videos of belt adjustment.

Replace deck on Precor 9.45i

Replacing a Treadmill Running Belt and Deck Following is a basic guideline of removing and replacing the running belt and deck on a treadmill. Due to different brands and designs of treadmills, the following should only be used as a guideline. If any of the information is not exact to the treadmill being serviced, refer to the service manual or call Sportsmith for further help. Tools Needed: Phillips Screwdriver, Set of Allen Wrenches, Set of Box End or Open Face Wrenches (Tools needed may vary depending on treadmill. )
  1. Switch the Power off on the unit.
  2. Next, unplug the unit from the wall.
  3. Remove the finger guard retaining screws and carefully remove the finger guards from the deck at each end of the rear roller.
  4. Loosen each rear roller bolt by 10 full turns. Then count the remaining turns necessary to remove the rear roller bolts. Remember to write down the number of turns needed to remove the bolts in each side for future reference.
  5. Carefully remove the rear roller from the unit. Clean any wax or debris buildup from the roller and place it aside.
  6. Raise the shroud and secure it with a bungee cord.
  7. Work the drive belt off the motor pulley by hand turning the flywheel while pushing the belt aside.
  8. Now remove the front roller retaining bolts.
  9. Carefully remove the front roller from the unit. Clean off any wax or debris buildup and set it aside.
  10. Loosen and remove the deck mounting hardware.
  11. Move the deck toward the left side of the frame to free the deck from the right side. The deck will move down once the frame has been cleared.
  12. Remove the deck and belt by raising the right side edge of the deck over the frame rail and sliding it to the right to remove.
  13. When installing a new belt or deck it is important to note that a new belt and deck surface should always be installed together. Failure to adhere to this guideline will severely shorten the life of the newly installed parts. Some decks can be used on both sides. However, be sure that each side is only used once. Be sure to install the belt in the proper direction on the unit.
  14. Install the belt and deck by first putting the belt on the deck, and then installing them from the right side as a unit.
  15. Be sure the deck is lined up with the frame and push the deck to the left side.
  16. Now carefully lower the right side of the deck to insert it into the frame rail and then push the deck to the right as far as possible.
  17. Re-install deck mounting hardware. (Check with mfr. for proper torque during install process.)
  18. Carefully place the front roller on the deck under the belt and push it forward into place, while placing the drive belt on the inside of the drive pulley.
  19. Replace the front roller bolts. (Check with mfr. for proper torque during install process.)
  20. Now spin the roller by hand while pushing the drive belt onto the pulley. Be sure to spin the roller several times to insure complete installation of the drive belt on the pulley.
  21. Install the rear roller into unit. Carefully start each bolt and turn one to two threads to ensure no cross-threading has occurred.
  22. Tighten each rear roller bolt the number of turns you kept earlier for reference.
  23. Now, Plug in and power on the unit.
  24. Carefully remove the bungee cord from the shroud and lower it back into place.
  25. Start the unit at a very slow speed and check for proper belt alignment. Remember to start at the slowest speed possible and be ready to stop the unit quickly if needed.
  26. If the belt is moving to right side of unit tighten the right roller bolt, If the belt is moving to the left side of the unit tighten the left roller bolt until the belt is tracking properly.
  27. Caution: make very small adjustments such as 1/4 turns and then watch the belt for several moments before making another adjustment.
  28. Once the belt is tracking properly walk on the unit at a slow speed and check for belt slippage on foot fall. If this is happening tighten each of the rear roller bolts equal turns until the slippage is no longer occurring. Caution: make very small adjustments such as ¼ turns and then watch the belt for several moments before making another adjustment.
  29. Now use the unit at a jogging speed to check for belt travel or slippage.
  30. If slippage still occurs make small equal adjustments (1/4 turns) to both sides of rear roller and re-test.
  31. Install the finger guards once you have enough clearance from the rear roller.
  32. Some manufacturers require wax or lube during the install process, please consult your owner's or service manual for further information regarding this.

I need to know how to take deck loose to replace the belt.

To remove the deck from a riding mower you will need to lower the deck fully first. Then laying on the ground look above the deck and see at what points the deck is connected to the rest of the mower. Also at this point, remove the belt from the engine pulley. You should see some pins that can be removed to unhook the deck. For example on a Craftsman 42" there are two on the front of the deck, two above the deck connected to the lowering mechanism and one to guide the back up and down and one that connects the cable/linkage for engaging the deck. Then raise the lowering mechanism up out of the way and the deck should just slide out. With the deck removed take note of the routing, but usually there is a belt routing sticker on the deck.

Under the seat you will find the make and model number, record these and take to your local lawn mower repair parts store and they should have the appropriate replacement belt.

Install belt on toro mower model 70041

For removing/replacing the deck belt, the general method is:
  1. turn off engine, remove key and set parking brake
  2. disengage blade by putting blade engage lever into off (disengaged) position
  3. lower the cutting deck to the lowest position (closest to the ground)
  4. relieve the belt tension (depending on the model, use a 3/8 inch ratchet set to tighten in the square hole of the idler bracket)
  5. remove and replace the belt
NOTE: it's not necessary to completely remove the cutting deck.

For deck belt diagrams, http://216.213.143.2/ProAuthor/ManProc.cfm?ManualID=425&ProcID=14796

If the transmission drive belt needs to be replaced, several components must be removed and special tools (i.e. air/impact wrench) used in order to change the tractor's transmission drive belt. See an Authorized Toro Service Dealer to have your drive belt replaced.
