1. Damaged hard drive is a very common cause for that problem. Once your OS is not 'readable' some parts of the drive might be damaged and is best to change hard drive and reinstall OS and applications.
2. A very corrupted OS (you deleted critical parts of the OS or have a virus) might fail to load and then you could perform a restoration if you have the OS on a drive or a reinstallation.

Go to download the drivers that you require from the Sony WEB site, to their support/download page. Make sure you input your model laptop and select the Windows OS that matches your installed operating system.

U need to download the raid drivers and put them onto a floppy drive .. during loading of XP install u press a key to load Raid or Scussi drivers .. hit that, load the driver u put onto floppy and it shud then find it

You can try running the installation/recovery disc that came with the computer or the built-in recovery system (if it has one) to try and repair the windows installation. The problem is if the computer is saying that the operating system is not found then critical files got deleted from something like a virus or the hard disc drive has stopped working. You may have to do a format and re-install of the windows OS.

Hi there, did this machine come with windows 7? if not I believe that there are no compatible drivers for the non 7 viao's, I attemted to install win7 to a viao and had the excat same problem. I have installed 7 on a lot of different machines and the viaos are about the only machine that wont allow you to install certain drivers.
