Can get dial tone but cant dial out

If you have no dial tone the problem is most likely the base station has failed, nothing you can do will kill the dial tone (no button you pushed etc.) except a failed base station.

Maybe trying to pair the handset with the base station will solve your problem. Look in the manual how the pairing procedure is done for your phone.

If the pairing procedure is done, and the handset finds the base station and there's stil no dial tone, check if the cable from the telephone line is plugged in the base station of the phone and check if the other side of the cable is plugged in the wall phone outlet.

Yes, buy the correct one and follow the instructions in the manual. We are unable to give advice when you won't say the make and model of your base station or the (Different make) handset. I mean, does your new handset even have an address book function? Does your base station have an address book function?

Check that you have power (eg. Led indicator is on) to your Base station.

If you have power to the base station and you still do not have a dial tone, plug in a non-cordless handset to the phone socket and see if you have a dial tone on yor non-cordless handset, then you have a faulty base station.

All you have to do is put the phone that does not get a dial tone on the MAIN CHARGING BASE for 20 seconds! it will then sync up!

Suggest you check battery in non working handset is connected and charged. If this is ok, suggest you check this handset is registered with the base station, as out of the box they arent always set to the same channels

Yes, the latest poster has the answer. Just unplug the phone line from the base unit and make sure the contacts are not dirty on either the phone line or the connector in the base unit and be sure to firmly push the line into the connector.

If your system was working fine, and it all of a sudden started doing this, it sounds like your base has taken a surge of some kind. Your base needs replacing. You can try re-registering the handsets, but from my experience the problem is fatal. Now if this is a new installation and the handsets never work yet on the base, you just need to register them. If the second handset works ok on the base and the first handset doesn't, then you are right...the fault lies with the first handset. There are batteries ( special type ) in the handset, it sound as if either the batteries are dead, or not charged ( try charging them for 12 hours on the good base station ) or the connection is bad.
