SOURCE: crystal eye webcam wont work on my acer aspire 6930
The cause of this problem is a combination of the new Windows Live Messenger 9 beta and McAfee antivirus trial that is installed on your Aspire.
Several solutions are availabe:
1. Simply to update your McAfee Antivirus. You can do this by selecting the update function in McAfee's interface. This should fix the problem instantly.
2. If step 1 does not work, you can, if you dont care much for the new Messenger look, uninstall version 9 and just install 8.5 again. This has no known problems at all.
3. see McAfee support site: http://service.mcafee.com/faqdocument.aspx?id=TS100601
Hope this solves your problem!

OK, Not sure about the Aspire One, But I had the same problem with the Aspire 5610Z.
I simply found the Bios battery and with a small screw driver, created a short circuit of the bios by touching the two leads (just for a couple seconds) from the Bios Battery to the Motherboard. And It Works Fine Now!
Be sure to Disconnect all power from the laptop, and remove the Battery before doing this.
You can do as I did and download a free manual of your laptop which shows you where the bios battery is located.
Good Luck ô¿ô

Try system restore. During the boot sequence press F11 and follow the instructions. If it fails, try with your installation disk.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by taking the front panel above the keyboard off (requires removing 9 or 10 screws from the bottom side), then I made sure the LCD and power cables were plugged in firmly, and finally I did a power reset just for fun. I did this early yesterday evening, and so far it's seemed to work.
