I am having an issue with my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop, which I bought new in 2008. It will not fully boot up.
When I press the on button, the lcd lights up. My computer powers up, whirs as normal, the initial screen comes on with the computer name and version on it, an indicator slides to the right. Then, it goes to "INTEL Matrix Storage Manager.....etc." screen. Then, it boots no further than that. It goes to a lit but darkly blank screen. The LED Code Light is the NumLock/Padlock 9 light, which stays lit -- the others are off.

The Dell Latitude E6400 laptop comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor for fast computing and an NVIDIA graphics card for video playback, gaming and Web browsing. The laptop has a built in Wi-Fi card, letting you connect to the Internet on-the-go. However, if you're unfamiliar with Dell or the laptop's factory installed Windows Vista operating system, you might not know how to enable to Wi-Fi.
Slide the switch on the side of the laptop toward the front of the laptop. This switch enables Wi-Fi connectivity on the Dell Latitude E6400. When switched into the back position, the Wi-Fi is turned off. Turn on your Dell Latitude E6400 laptop and log into Windows Vista. Click on the Windows "Start" button. Click on "Wireless," located in the Start menu's "Show" list. A list of currently broadcasting wireless networks appears on screen. With your Wi-Fi enabled, you can connect to any of these available networks. Secured networks ask you for a password when you click "Connect," while unsecured networks connect automatically.
one quick simple test to see if the key works is hold the Fn key and press the power button on a clod boot from power off state. If the PSA diagnostics start the Fn button is functional, and we'll need to troubleshoot other issues.
If the PSA diagnostics do not start, then reseat the keyboard (It has a slot connector into the palmrest) and see if that resolves. If still no change, replace 1st the keyboard, and if that doesn't resolve the palmrest.

You should see a screen icon on the keyboard, (usually its the F6 or F8 key). Press FN and that key, and that should switch from LCD to External, then to Dual, then back to LCD.
Press on F2 when turning back the laptop by going to the BIOS setup screen and from there have to enable your WIRELESS CONNECTION. And then have to manually TURN ON your WIRELESS device by enabling or turning ON the Wireless button of the laptop. Thank you.
