I have a Minn Kota Fortrex 80" Shaft 24volt motor. The shaft appears to have a lot of play where it connects to the top of the aluminium bracket at the head. How can I repair this?

How can I strip the half round brackets to get to this area and is this a common problem

1/2 inch, 1", .02",040" or what
talk with a service agent for the equipment to get the exact amount of end play permissible or down load a workshop manual for the equipment

How do i release 101 fortrex motor from mounting bracket

There is a pin that goes through the shaft, a small circle clip that holds it in place. Remove the clip and pull out the pin. This may require a hammer and drift as they tend to corrode in the aluminum. don't forget to pull the rope and release the catch.

I have to manually turn the prop. to get the Minn Kota electric motor to work. Once it gets going it works fine. What is the cause?

I have an all terrain 70 that would not work intermittently. I disassembled the motor and discovered that the brushes wer hung in the brush housing. The housing is clean and the brushes are in great shape. It appeared that the geometry of the brush spring is just right to make it hang at that prticular position. I freed the spring and could not recreate the problem. Reassembled with new gaskets and seals and all is good.

Why does my 65lbs minn kota maxxum not run quite?

Fishing string on shaft, runing while out of water(will burn up seals so fast), bent shaft, off balance prop, bad rotor in the electric motor. lots of variables. I bought one that was noisy out of the box, vibrated very bad from the get go

You need your serial number of the trolling motor, length of shaft, and thrust poundage.

or you could call Minn Kota direct and give them the same information at 800-227-6433.

How do I remove the composite shaft from the motor housing

I just replaced the shaft (composite) on my Endura 34 today. First, remove the crossbolt that attaches the control head to the top of the shaft. Second, remove the top cover of the control head. Third, make note of the wire connections within the control head (take a picture) and then unplug the red, yellow, white and black wires...no need to unplug the main 6 guage red and black power wires. Fourth, with the wires unplugged, pull the shaft with motor housing attached through the transom mount assembly. Fifth, immobilize the motor housing (gently vice?) and heat the socket in which the shaft screws into motor housing. Do not overheat, only use enough heat to soften factory sealant making unscrewing shaft possible. Sixth, reassemble in reverse order.

Notes: Do not use a pipe wrench as this will crush the composite shaft, either old or new. Apply thread sealant prior to installing new shaft (I used Permatex Thread Sealant/Formagasket). Ensure crossbolt hole on top of shaft aligns with motor housing below.
