Cassette players use belts for the rew/ffw/play functions. The belts can be difficult to replace even in the relatively large space of a stereo component. Replacing the belts on a boombox is probably more difficult, but I have never tried. If everything else on the boombox is working, it is probably the belts. If you get some sound, but it's muddy, clean the tape heads with alcohol.
Belts are not the only things needed as this question points out. The capstan bearing needs oil, the motor bearings need oil, the Pinch Roller pressure needs to be right and the pinch roller clean. Capstan shaft has to have some grip and can not be glazed when it is suppose to be matte surface to start. What is the model number?
stretched belt or needs lube, those are the easiest things, with the unit on, remove the disc so you can get to the belt, take it off the motor and see if the RPM's increase a lot, lube the center spindle with a light oil, and check for easy spinning ,, replace the belt, and turn the disc back and forth, if you see slippage or a binding in the belt, ( like a little loop wanting to develop) replace the belt, if the belt seems to be just slipping, clean all the contact points of the b elt with rubbing alcohol
Clean the printer Clean the drive rollers with alcohol Check the belt for wear Clean the rail that the heads ride on After cleaning, make sure that you calibrate the printer
Il rimedio c'?, ma dovrei esaminarlo personalmente. La mia email " [email protected] "
The remedy is there, but I consider it personally. My email "doctor.walkman @ gmail.com"
in most cases yes: each deck probably has a flat belt that has aged and does not offer the correct tension to the capstan drive. all parts that touch the belt must be cleaned with alcohol; the capstan pressure roller probably needs cleaning also. usually have to remove some parts/screws to be able to take out/install the belt. replacement belt must be about 1/2 inch shorter in circumference than what you remove. of course power/batteries must be removed before opening case. be gentle when replacing screws and note the types and lengths as these are removed to make sure they go back in same place - low cost belts available on internet after searching ($1 - 3$)
this sounds like the belt that drives the turntable itself is slipping you can normally access it by removing the securing clip by the centre spindle and then lift the turntable up and you should be able to see the belt give the belt a good clean with isopropyl alcohol refit and hey presto (if you still get slippage order a replacement belt )
motor belts are cheap. try replacing the belt that drives the wheel. this become distorted specially when the unit has not been use for quit long time. if you think its not about belt, clean up the rubber that touches the tape when played, also the tape head with 70% alcohol. hope this help.
have you tryed to clean the ace head??? The ace head means audio-control-erase. and is on the right side of the mechanism. this head looks like a big cassette type head and is statioary. This head can be cleaned just like an 8-track{remember those??}or cassette head by applying rubbing alcohol to a q-tip and clean the head from top to bottom. this head also may need cleaning if your tapes seem to speed up and slow down for no reason and at random. Thats because the lower part of the head is the control head and that gives the machine pulses to tell the machine what speed the tape is recorded in then the capstain motor has an fg sensor(freqency generator} and they all go thru a comparitor and the sum of both pulses gives the machine the proper speed setting. Hope this was laid out in understandable english. Good Luck
