Williams wall heater 2509622. How do I keep the pilot on? It tends to turn off after it reaches the desired temperature.

In CA. Natural gas. About 15 years old. Turned on for winter. Generally turns off after reaching the desired temperature, on occasion it will last 1 day. Replaced the pilot generator. I noticed the new pilot generator has about 3/4 of a sleeve covering the bottom until it reaches the top where it meets the flame. The original had no cover. No change. Flame is blue and engulfs the tip it when the heater is on.

Gas conversion lp kit 8927 has 2 pilot orifices...I only need 1, correct?

The smallest pilot orifice is used for LP. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly. Usually the gas valve pressure regulator is disabled and the burner orifices are also changed. Good luck and hope this helps.

Temperature is set using a thermostat as explained in the above manual.
Use IE Explorer Browser, manual does not display in Google Chrome as a number of other PDF files don't either, must be a bug.

Wall Heater

If you have already changed out the thermocouple and the pilot goes out when the burner goes out, it leads to reason that the gas valve has a weak magnet or that the pilot is dirty. The cheapest thing would be to remove the pilot assembly and clean out the orifice. If it still drops out, you will need to replace the gas valve.

I have model#2509622 Williams wall heater. I just installed it and the pilot lights fine. There is a copper ground wire, but the only way the furnace will fire up is when the ground wire is in contact with...

can you manually fire the unit w/o the thermostat by shorting 2 of the 3 wires, there may be more wires than that, but you should be able to fire it on 2 to 3 wires alone let me know it sounds like something is floating voltage wise on the unit

Need to turn on pilot light of Williams 3003622 serial # 400518D

Find the gas valve and turn it to pilot. (Or light) Use a long reach lighter. Light the lighter and press the knob in. Light the pilot and continue to hold the knob in for about 15 seconds. When you release it, the pilot should stay lit. If it doesn't, you need a new thermocouple. That's the small tube that the flame touches when the pilot's lit. They're inexpensive and usually not too hard to replace.

Williams wall furnace, top vent.

I've replaced a Williams wall gas heater non-electric. The thermostat is connected right and mounted on the wall. But, there's a thick black copper wire on the side of the furnace tagged thermostat. I don't know what to do with it? Where do you connect this wire? When it touches the top screw of the three screws running vertically(where the other wires are connected). The burner lights up and stays on, even if you play with the wall thermostat. Touching the other two screws doesn't do anything. Now, the manual talks about connecting it to the venting wires? Extra wires coming from the top or maybe somewhere else in the wall? I've left it connected to the first screw, ran the heater. But, it never turns off? Any suggestions? Thanks
