Dell recovery will not work in a Toshiba Laptop. Just make sure the boot order is set to CD/DVD driver first that will automatically start the CD/DVD driver when disc is loaded.
How did you lose the operating by mistake? Did you format the drive? You can not recover the operating system from the bios. But you may have a choice when the computer boots up there may be a recovery option, you can try that. If not you would have to reinstall or try a repair from a vista disk if you can borrow one from someone. Please let me know if I can offer any other help, Thanks for using FixYa
Hi, You will need the recovery discs or the XP installation disc generally the recovery disc are delivered with the laptops if you do not got it then you have to buy it from Toshiba. Then you have to boot the laptop with that disc by pressing F2 at the Toshiba logo screen and selecting the cd/dvd drive as the boot device.
there are usb CD/DVD drives (CD/DVD drives that plug in via the usb slot) and they are usualy pretty inexpensive dependong on the brand. but make sure if you get one off ebay, craigslist, ect that it comes with the installation/driver cd
if it does not you can sometimes download the software.
That is little bit difficult but easy as well, I have two options, if your laptop is still under warranty, it will be better if you can take it to Hp service center, so that they can re-install everything to its factory settings or you get someone using that same laptop, create a recovery on the person laptop onto a recordable DVD, then use it on your system, this may probably work as well.
Toshiba usually ships laptops with recovery cd/dvd sets.
If you have captioned recovery set, make sure to make a backup copy.
If this series no has recovery cd/dvd, must be a hidden partition for recovery in the hard drive. For make a recovery disc find the sotware loaded in the laptop (must be there) and make a recovery disc set. Be aware that some manufacturers limit the use of this particular software (you only can make one cd/dvd recovery set).
In the worst scenario that the recovery partition is no present you must load Norton Ghost v14.0 and make a full backup to one external hard drive (USB) in order to recover te operative system, drivers and software in case of disaster.
